Am I the only one who instantly reads MTHFR as a swearword (with letters missing) everytime I see it?
Nope, I see it too! Actually that's what I say in my head every time I see MTHFR.

I'm so so so happy for you Ashley! I'll be praying that this cycle is the one for you!!!

I'm so incredibly happy for you that you have found the culprit!!

I also have MTHFR mutation. Mine is "compound heterozygous" which means that I have two differently mutated genes. It's a worse one than you have. We're not sure if it's to blame for my 2 m/c though since we are also dealing with Eric's balanced translocation, which gives a 50% m/c rate on its own. Anyway - what I did was take about 2 mg of folic acid (your doc might give you more, whatever your body doesn't use you pee out so you can't OD on it) in addition to my regular prenatal and a baby aspirin. I started taking these daily before getting pregnant with Dominic, and of course during the entire 9 months as well. Just toward the end of the pregnancy I stopped the baby aspirin for about 2 weeks so that I wouldn't have a bleeding complication during delivery.

The folic acid and baby aspirin are such an easy, easy fix compared to many of the causes of infertility! I'm so happy that you figured this out and that hopefully you're SO CLOSE to your healthy bean!

After googling all day about MTHFR and actually finding a forum for women ttc with MTHFR im scared to ttc this cycle. There were ALOT of women who started folgard (or something similiar) and baby aspirin who got pregnant right away and it stuck. But then there were some women who also got pregnant right away and it stuck, but then found out the baby had spina bifida or other issues with the baby or pregnancy complications. (Spina bifida is an effect of not enough folic acid) And with my mutation my body doesnt metabolize folic acid, b6, and b12 like it should. That is why I have to be on "10 times" the normal amount of all three. So I feel like i should be on Folgard for longer than 14-18 days before getting pregnant. I want my body to be fully ready for a baby, especially now that I know what it is and can prevent it. I feel like I need to start with my first motherly duty and that is to make my body a healthy place for my baby before I bring him or her into it. So as much as I hate it, im thinking about waiting until next cycle when all my levels are for sure brought up to normal. Ive waited this long, I think I can wait one more month knowing that my next pregnancy should be the one. Right? By the way, its crazy...but after taking only two pills I feel great! My dr said they would probably make me feel better because for all these years my body has gone without being able to metabolize these vitamins the right way...and now I feel better!!

Also my Dr. still wants to do the HSG on Jan 19th (I dont know why obviously my tubes are clear, but he says he wants to rule everything else out and make sure the mutation is the only problem) and I have to have an ultrasound on Jan 25th as well.

Ashley, do you happen to know how much of each vitamin is in your Folgard pill? I'm wondering if I should be taking more than I am.

I think thats a good plan, especially after you have read what have happened to other women. Better safe than sorry! YAH!!! I know you loathe the idea of waiting one more month, but I feel so sure that you will get your super sticky, healthy BFP soon!!!
