***UPDATE!***

DH and I went in and when the girl took my BP she just said it was 'high' - I asked what it was specifically and she said 180/100. So as soon as I get into the room the nurse comes in and has me undress from the waist down and they want me to lay down on my left side because if my BP doesn't come down they would be sending me to the hospital. So I rested for a while and the BP girl comes back in and takes it and it went down considerably. I can't remember what it was right now (we wrote this all down I just don't want to get up to look, lol) but both DH and I were shocked by how much it had dropped and a little bit skeptical.

Anyway the nurse comes in and checks Lily's HB (136) and asks me about my swelling, vision, etc. and I again went over all of the details. She said that the concern is for pre-eclampsia and explained a little bit about that. Then she told me the doctor would be in to see me.

Well, a little back story - when we picked this practice, my insurance coverage through my job was limited and this particular practice had the best online reviews and I really liked this one specific doctor, Dr. Greene. Well in the practice there are 4 OBs and you rotate which ones you see. I've not seen Dr. Greene since like my very first appointment where she basically just stuck her head in and asked if I had questions, I said no, and she left. So I don't really know her. But she was GREAT today. Both DH and I were very pleased with our experience with her.

Last Thursday @ my appt my cervix was a half a cm dilated and baby's head was in a "good position" and that was all the info I got. So DH & I took bets, he thought I'd be 3cm and I said 1 max. So I had a cervical check, and I'm 2cm dilated & 50% effaced and at a -2 station. She asked if I'd like for her to strip my membranes and I said no. DH told her about our bet and she said she could 'probably get me to a three.' haha. Anyway, I really appreciate that she was forthcoming with my stats without my having to ask, and that she asked if I wanted my membranes stripped rather than just doing it.

She said that I am showing the signs of pre-e with the pregnancy induced hypertension, the swelling, and that my dipstick test thing did show that there was protein in my urine. I'm favorable for induction, and she said we could do that today if I wanted to. I told her that I'd prefer to go on my own and not be induced if it's safe to wait it out. She said that because my BP dropped so well in the office, she feels comfortable with me being at home basically on bed rest, but that if I start to feel sick or if my face begins to swell at all, they will want to induce me right away. She gave me a bucket thing to do a 24 hour urine collection and she wants me to come back again on Friday to monitor things.

Overall I was really happy leaving the appointment. I felt like she took everything seriously and explained things well and I appreciate that I felt included in the decision making process. Hopefully she's on call whenever I do give birth!
