Shopping carts are nasty- I'd get a cover! A mattress pad with just the sheet should be fine. We used a lot of sleep sacks, with those day gowns. We never bought a humidifier until Drake got sick the first time. HTH!

we just bought a humidifier yesterday since she is congested.......
I have sleep sacks but hate them because Lyla likes to be swaddled and cannot sleep if not swaddled so I use the Swaddle Me's.....
I also have a mattress pad and sheet saver but she isn't in her crib yet so haven't really gotten to use either. I think the sheet saver is a bit of a waste to be honest.....

As far as the humidifier goes, I absolutely recommend getting one. Conner's had 2 colds in his lifetime and it helped him sleep SO much, it's really really nice to have and gave me some peace of mind. I don't have any advice on the other stuff though sorry

I would get a humidifier if it tends to be dry in your house or the nursery room. Otherwise you can hold off until baby gets a cold. I would get one swaddle me and one sleep sack (if you don't get more from your shower) and see which baby prefers. Gemma loved sleep sacks and not swaddling so I've already bought 2 or 3 for this baby but if it likes swaddling better then they might be wasted. You don't need a sheet saver. Just get a mattress pad to keep messes from penetrating the mattress and keep extra sheets handy (I think I had 4 or 5 crib sheets for Gem). You won't need a shopping cart cover until baby can sit in one unassisted. I always carried Gemma or sat her whole infant carseat in the cart. She never touched a cart until about 6-7 months old and by then I just wiped the handle bar down with sanitizing wipes. She never got a serious illness, just colds and she's healthy as a horse. I might get one for this baby but I sometimes wonder if we don't overprotect our LO's sometimes, KWIM? Anyway, you won't need it for a long time so don't register for it because someone will probably ask what to get baby for some reason later and you can ask for one then.

Humidifier - we just recently used one for Matthew due to congestion, I'd say you're more likely to need it in winter months.
I'd go with SwaddleMes over sleep sacks. If you are talking about the Halo sleep sacks they are pretty heavy and might be too warm depending on weather/your house temp. We got one but never used it.
You need a mattress pad (IMO) to protect your mattress from pee/spitup that soaks through the crib sheet. The point of the sheet saver is to save you from having to pull the mattress up and change the crib sheets so often, BUT I don't like the kind they sell. It doesn't cover the whole crib and baby will scootch all over the crib and end up spitting up somewhere that the sheet saver isn't covering. I used a combination of flat waterproof pads and receiving blankets tucked in to keep from having to change crib sheets so often.
Shopping cart cover I just started using a month ago or so when he started sitting up more. I like it b/c I think the carts are gross. I got a Boppy brand and I like it.

Is a humidifier a must? I never got one and never had a need for one. You could always wait on it.
Sleep sacks?? I have the swaddleme blanket on my list. Do i need both? I had a few sleep sacks and I used them. I heard that the swaddleme blanket doesn't work well. I got the mircale blanket because it swaddles much better. Only used it a few times because Oliver didn't care if he was swaddled or not. I would get both..
Do i need a mattress pad AND a sheet saver? I got a waterproof mattress cover.
What about a shopping cart cover? I planned on getting one but never did. I don't think I would have used it much. It is just another thing to tote around. I always wipe the cart down with the santize stuff.

I don't know first hand yet, but...
I have a humidifier that I received as a gift. Figured it is better to have it before you need it. Who wants to be running to the store with a sick baby.
As for the crib stuff, I just set up our crib and the linens for it and let me tell you..it is not easy to get sheets on them. I think a mattress pad is a must. Especially if you want the mattress to last through toddler years. But to get a fitted mattress pad and sheet on the bed, you pretty much have to remove it from the crib...at least lift one side up high enough to get the stuff on, then lift the other side. And those suckers are not light...plus the mattress and sheets are supposed to fit snug so it involves a fair amount of tugging on top of the lifting. And then if you have a crib bumper you'll need to untie and remove that in order to lift the mattress and change the stuff. It really seems like a huge PIA to change the crib linens. Espeically if you need to do it in the middle of the night.
So after setting this up and experiencing how difficult it can be, I ordered a couple flat crib pads. They are smallish (15x33) and waterproof, but large enough that when layed across the crib they can be tucked tightly in (i didnt like the kind that tie to the crib). I figured they would save me some linen changes. Plus they can be used on the floor for some naked time, or for diaper changes, really anything.
Anyways, hope that helped some.

The sleep sacks are a huge must have (at least for us). I have 4 and have used them daily since day 1. My LO hated swaddling, so all those expensive swaddling blankets were a waste of money. I believe it is only recommended to swaddle for 4-6 weeks anyway, so you will need the sleep sacks for afterward anyway. I have no experience with the Halo sacks (they aren't sold over here), but if you can find the Grobag brand, they come in several different thicknesses for different weather. Just the other day they were half off on babyhalfoff.com.
For the crib, I have a waterproof mattress pad (Carters brand) and then I put a thick bath towel over the top, and then the fitted sheet.
Don't have a humidifier. He had a mild cold last week and was congested, but didn't seem bothered by it too much.

Is a humidifier a must? IMO, No
Sleep sacks?? I have the swaddleme blanket on my list. Do i need both? We used Swaddlesmes until like 6months then we used Sleepsacks. I LOVE both
Do i need a mattress pad AND a sheet saver? I don't understand the difference: We only use a mattress cover, then the crib sheet
What about a shopping cart cover? I love mine, but it's not needed until baby can sit up. It's like $20-25, something you can pick up later

For me a warm mist humidifier was a must. The sound helped him sleep and I live in a dry area so it helps.
Sleep sacks are not a must but VERY helpful! Its easier to change beby in the middle of the night with it other then unsnapping a million snaps and fighting his legs to get back into Pj's. And you will be changing tons of diapers at night at first.
I co sleep so I don't know about the crib pads.
Shopping cart cover is a MUST imo carts are super nasty! But don't worry about it just yet as baby wont need it for awhile. And don't worry about getting an expensive one.

Is a humidifier a must? Don't know.. Didn't buy one.
Sleep sacks?? I have the swaddleme blanket on my list. Do i need both? As a newborn the Swaddleme blankets were a life saver, we stopped using them around 5 months. As for sleep sacks we don't have any so I can't really say much about those.
Do i need a mattress pad AND a sheet saver? We only bought a sheet saver... But she doesn't sleep in her crib so it was really just a waste of money for us. It did come in good use as a burp cloth though.
What about a shopping cart cover? Ditto ANGWife... You really wont need one until your little one is sitting up, so it can be bought later on.

If I used a lot of AC then I would get a humidifier. Here in the tropics, we don't really need one.
I used a sleep sack and a shopping cart cover and they worked great. You can buy the shopping cart cover later on.
I never used a mattress pad/sheet saver.

Is a humidifier a must? No, but were getting one for Isabelle since Ian has croup every year, to keep her protected.
Sleep sacks?? I have the swaddleme blanket on my list. Do i need both? Depends on if your baby sleeps swaddled, or escapes half way through the night - their both nice to have depending on the night. The sleep sack are nice for older babies who have outgrown swaddling, but kick of blankets who also dont need a diaper change throughout the night *they are closed at the bottom makes it hard to change a sleeping/sleepy baby
Do i need a mattress pad AND a sheet saver? I have one of thoes terry cloth sheets with the rubber on the back side for the kids's beds. I never had one for the crib but will this time around. Leaks can happen and its easier to just take sheets off vs washing the mattress and having to let it dry
What about a shopping cart cover? I never had one
