So Henry's rash has gotten alot better (still there some), but now it's a new problem

Whenever he poops, he gets this mild rash all over his butt. To me it seems like he might be allergic to something? But I thought if he was allergic, his face or other parts of his body would have a raised rash too. It doesn't happen when he pees.

I don't want to waste time going to the doctor if he's only going to say watch what he eats. The only plan I can think of is to just give him the same 1 fruit and 1 veggie each day to see if the rash goes away. And then gradually add more foods? Is it possible that some of his foods are too acidic (he loves the Gerber pear/pineapple and mangos)?

I also don't understand why it's happened just since his rash he had before came up. Maybe he's not allergic to anything?

Any thoughts?

Hmm.. Since he's not showing any other symptoms I would think it's just a food intolerance. That would explain the redness only being on his bottom. And I know that mangoes and pears tend to be on the acidic side so that's probably the culprit. Knowing this I wouldn't cut it out of his diet, I would just feed it to him less often to help cut down on the acidity.

I hope it clears up for him soon though.

I agree with Ashley, I think that's the best way to go about it. Poor Henry

How much milk/formula is he drinking? I would think that would balance out the acidity unless he's eating a TON of citrus fruits. Maybe cut out the pineapple and mango for 2 or 3 days and see if it's still happening. If it is then I would do what you suggested in reverse, cutting out one food at a time for 2-3 days until it stops. If that doesn't work after a couple weeks then I would probably see your pediatrician as he might have a skin sensitivity or something. I hope he feels better soon!

I think pineapple is an allergen and pretty acidic too. I agree with cutting out the fruit and then slowing reintroducing then starting with the apples/pears. You could cut out all fruit too initially (maybe for about 2 days) and give a wee bit of prune juice to help prevent constipation and then see if that does any good as well.

Check out this link, the bottom page lists foods in order of top allergens down to least likely allergens. http://www.allergynutrition.com/reso...%20Allergy.pdf

Mango is pretty high. What about dairy, do you think it could be yogurt melts?

My SIL had a problem with my niece, she did fine on formula for several months but when she switched her to whole milk she got a bleeding diaper rash. She tried the lactose free milk but that still gave problems. It was definitely the milk and that was the only symptom.

I hope you figure it out soon! I'd cut out anything "new" that you've given him starting around the time the diaper rash started.

That makes me wonder why Gerber makes a Mango puree. And he hasn't had any yogurt melts since last Friday and my MIL overfed him.

Maybe mango is like the strawberry and it isn't as allergenic when its cooked? I just thought about that.
