Do any of you have a gate like this?

North State - Superyard XT Portable Playard & Gate Reviews - Walmart.com

Our living room is pretty much childproofed except for the tv area. I need something to just stretch across the entertainment center. Alot of people give these types of gates good reviews. But what about a baby who can climb? If it doesn't attach to the wall, how does it remain sturdy?

I can see Henry just knocking this over.

I'm going in circle trying to decide which gate is right for us (and not heavy on our budget) I still don't know which to buy! Do you have a gate on top of your stairs? What brand is it? Can you share a link? We have an uneven banister so I think we need the kind that mounts into the wall (I don't mind not being able to use the gate elsewhere). I'm worried about the locking mechanisms in these gates. One good push can have baby falling down the stairs.

we have it (2 actually ) and what we did was tuck it behind something heavy on both ends (when it wasn't in its shape, when it was out in a line type form) and Seamus' couldn't knock it over, he did learn to climb over it just after he turned 2 though We dont have a gate at the top of our stairs because of Seamus, dh is scared he'll try to climb over it and fall down them

My MIL uses that one and just stretches it out. She blocked the entertainment stand and TV, plus it 'blocks' my niece in a 'safe' area.

yup we had 2 sets of the XT yard ones - saved our butts but made it hard to keep stuff organized as we just kept tossing crap behind it. We have the wooden pressure one for the top of the stairs. Once shes mobile well get another one for the bottom step and for the kitchen....and for the entry way to block off the front door and laundry area.... I thought I was done with baby proofing...LOL!!

I have a similar one that I used to use to keep Amara on her playmat. Now I just use it to block the entertainment center from her. We stretch it out and secure it behind two sofas.

Thats the one I have. Let me put up pic's for you!!!

Here ya go...
This is an older one when we didn't want her in the Kitchen. So we would make a gate out of it and kinda tuck it behind the couch. But we got tired of her walking up to it and whineing and she pretty much figured out how to move it.

So they don't topple over easily?

I'm worried that Hank is too smart for these gates He's always learned how to crawl thru the space in his exersaucer to get where he wants.

Thanks Amy for the visuals
