I went to my ob/gyn today for my yearly check up. Oliver and Damon came along so it was a family pap smear outing. Damon had the day off and we had plans after the doctor appointment so they came along. Anyways.. I wanted to ask my doc about vbacs if we end up having another child in the future. I thought she would say no because after doing some research in my area I heard that no docs that will do them. Only midwives. I started to ask her and before I got the words out she finished saying that I can try for a vbac and she was very upbeat and positive about it. She said they won't do a vbac after two c/s because the risk is 12% for rupture at that time. Now that I think about it I recall her saying that I could try for a vbac before. It must have been at my 6 wk post check up. For some reason this made my day. I'm not even sure which way I would go but I'm happy I have the option! She also asked if we were using any kind of birth control and we said no. She said, "natural family planning, my favorite kind". When we left she said "I'll see you at your next one year appointment if not sooner" and gave me a smile.
I've been going back and forth a lot about having a second child but because I keep going back and forth I just know we will. I guess my heart feels like we are not done with our family. Going to my appointment and being in the hospital (same floor as L&D) I kept thinking about how exciting and speical it was to be pregnant and give birth. I want to do it again even if it will be different the next time around.

I'm glad you are getting closer to one side of that decision. I know you've been throwing it around for a while!!! I think Oliver will be happy and have a FULL life either way! But I do think having a sibling is something very special
Are you thinking of waiting a few more years or sooner?

Awwww! I love your doctor! I really hope you guys have another baby. You are always so thoughtful and conscientious and your excellent parenting skills always show through loud and clear. I definitely see you with two and I think Oliver will love having a sibling to share with! I really felt like I missed out growing up with only a half sister that I got to see a couple times a month.

I completely agree with Amy...I think you should have another one just based on the fact that you are such am AMAZING mother, Oliver just cant be an only child. You have to open your heart to another baby! There definitely should be more moms like you! You can tell in every single post you have ever made just how much you love your baby. Your words about Oliver always make my baby fever worse because you just have such a special bond with him, and youve really taken on motherhood like it is what you were meant to do!

Your all too sweet. You always make me feel like I'm a better mom than I think I am.
Steph, I've been thinking about the spacing alot. I think 3 years is what sounds best for us right now. 2.5 at the earliest. I don't want more than 3.5 years between them or they might be a little to far apart. Idealy I would like a spring baby next time around. I still want more time with only Oliver. Plus he is still BF and sleeping with me. It would be super hard to have a second when he still needs me so much. I guess we will go with the flow of life and see what happens.

aWww Resi I'm so happy for u. Firs awesome about goin for a vbac. And second for deciding to add to your family. U are such a great mom and it would be cute to VCR Oliver a brother or a sister. Yea!!! And I'm with u on spacing. Think if we have an more it will be 2.5-3 yrs between them. Alexa needs me so much with BFing and all and I don't want to interfere with our mommy-daughter time. It's too precious to me.
So if u want maybe 2.5-3.5 yrs min does that mean u could be ttc by this fall?
springtime babies are fun. But ud have to conceive by summer tim for a spring 2011 baby. Next summer concieve would bring a 2012 baby. No pressure
