What are they? I saw them at babies r us tonight when I went in there to check out a few things for my registry.

I guess you buys these:

And then get inserts to go into them:

Are they similar to cloth diapers? I saw that its suppose to be environmentally friendly, I'm not really a "lets save the earth" kind of person. Does anyone know if they're any good?

Well a baby I took care of recently had them. I hated them. I think they are pretty poor fitting, plus you are still throwing away a diaper. The cloth outside has a plastic inside lining that snaps in, but the plastic gets poo stains on it that are pretty unsightly. Then the inserts are like the middle part of a diaper. They are giant though...I don't think they fit in the cloth part very well. Plus you still have to throw them out and they are more messy since you cant roll and tape them like you would a disposable.

I feel like it is a poor product overall. If you want to really save on cost and reduce waste then use cloth. If the cloth effort isnt for you, then I'd just use disposable.

It seems from the posts I've read both on JM and DS that most regular CDers don't particularly care for them, at least not with the inserts. They're better environmentally b/c you can flush the inserts or compost them and they don't sit around as long as sposies - but they're not necessarily cheaper than sposies. A lot of people will use the covers with a prefold in them and like them for that, and will just use the disposable inserts when they're out & about.

I bought some for my husband to use with Preston for a little while. You buy the shell (the first pic) and stuff them (with the inserts). When you change the baby, you take out the insert and tear down the side of it, then you dump the tissue lining in the toilet and swish it around with the swish stick that comes with, and then you throw the part you ripped into the toilet and flush. The shell (or cloth outer) has a nylon thing that snaps in...you get two shells and two nylon snap-in liners when you buy a starter kit. They are a cross between cloth and disposables. They are handy in a pinch or for outings...but since I have used both cloth and disposables as well as the gDiapers....I'm still pro cloth. The perk with the gDiapers is that you don't have to wash any waste (liquid or solid) in the washing machine but you still have to dump....not that big of a deal....but to me...it's a PITA since I just rinse my cloth diapers in the toilet, rinse in the sink and then watch in the washing machine.

I use G Diapers. I don't use the flushable inserts though. I use cloth ones. G Flappers or the ones I make. I love the fit! I also love that I can just buy them in the store

Lots of my friends use them actually. I don't much care for the flushable liners though, PITA to do... in my opinion.

Thanks ladies!!! Where do you get the cloth liners from?

I wish there was a CD store around here so that I can go and take a look at carious types of CDs. I saw some CD at walmart, they were the pre-folds I believe.

I like to see, observe and feel before I buy. I only plan on using CD when in the house or when I know she'll be with me for a long period of time. With others, they can use sposies. Well I'll use sposies until she hits about 10lbs to avoid the whole infant CD not fitting right phase.

You have to buy the cloth inserts online. I haven't used the gcloth but I use G Flappers and love them!!!

I know I like when I can feel and observe first. I have Apple Cheek diapers which I like (but use with G flappers as I don't like the insert that came with them) since I can buy them at a local store here.
