Seamus had his eval at the local public preschool almost 2weeks ago. He didn't qualify because over all his skills are normal. They only take kids that are at 7% and below, average is 50% and Seamus scored an average of 65%. He did fail his hearing test because he wouldn't cooperate with the lady, and they are wanting to keep an eye on his speech but the other physical things hes ok with now. But they all (there were stations for testing w/ different ladies) had the same comment, his behavior, he wouldn't cooperate and didn't focus.

Today Kieran's Early Headstart FC (Seamus' old one but he aged out when he turned 3) brought 2 ASQ's (ages and stages questionares), on the motor skills one he scored just the same as he did at the school. But the Social Emotional one is where there was some problems, just like we've been worried about for the last 1.5yrs (as have other family members and our EHS FC). The cutoff is 70, meaning anything 70 and below is normal and Ok, Seamus scored a 110. We are going back to the pedi on the 8th of Feb. to talk with her about it again, we went' back in June and she thought it was just from lack of sleep(he was sleeping only 4-5hrs total a day) but he's gotten worse and his speech is getting worse and worse(declining). I'm glad we did this because we can take it in to our pedi now and our EHS FC is trying to see if she can come to the appt with us.
Our EHS FC thinks our pedi will refer him to a child psychologist, she thinks he has Bipolar and ADHD because they had a speaker at their office a couple weeks ago and the speakers son has both of those and I guess the way the speaker explained her son reminded our EHS FC exactly of Seamus. So we'll see. It will be nice to find out what is going on and how to handle it and how to help him learn because right now we are at a loss, trying everything we can think of for learning and punishments and nothing is working. They both would make since, dh is bipolar, his mom is, his brother is and I think his mom said her mom was too, so it sounds like it runs in his family(my mom said thats typical, shes a Mental Health Specialist), and my middle brother(possibly me and my younger brother too though we were never tested) and my dad(not my brothers dad) had/have ADHD but I'm not sure if that runs in families or its a fluke.

It sounds like you're on the right path! Gemma's bio father was severely ADHD and it appears Gemma is too. The pyschologist refused to diagnose at this age but said she has every sign and it will be officially diagnosed when she is in school. One of the moms at Gem's cheer facility has a son with bi-polar. Her husband has it and so did her grandfather I think. So far her daughter seems normal and she just had a new baby so they are waiting until she is older to test. But it seems like both of these issues run in families. I hope you finally get some answers!

I've been part of Early Headstart since I was pregnant with Seamus, they age out at 3yrs, theres 1yr gap between Early Headstart and Headstart here because the Headstart cut the 3yr old program someodd years back. Seamus aged out but Kieran is still part of it so we still get weekly visits for her, and since her Family Coordinator was also Seamus' she still helps us with Seamus even though hes not in the program anymore.

I too think you're on the right path to getting the answers for him. I imagine it must be very challenging for you but I think you're doing a fantastic job. Hopefully a treatment plan will be in the works soon.
