So do you cook dinner every night? I was thinking I wouldn't have to, but then if I eat today's dinner leftovers as tomorrows lunch, I suppose I should? We eat out so much, but now that I am making Jack food and feeding him big people food we are usually inside more often and I am cooking more. But I want to plan it out more and all this home making cooking stuff is a new venture for me Ideas?

Either me or DH cook every night. I used to do 90% before the baby, but now we do about 50/50. I do real cooking, like a homemade meal. Although sometimes I do cheat and use frozen veggies or instant mash potatoes. DH sometimes makes a homemade meal, but sometimes he prefers to 'make' frozen pizza or the like.

We live in the TINNIEST German village ever. There is no takeout whatsoever, except a little pizza joint. If I wanted McDonalds, I would have to drive 30 minutes one way to get there. In some ways I am glad the take out temptation is not there... I go crazy with it when I am back home

I cook dinner just about every night. Sometimes we order in, not too often. When I cook I try to make as much of the meal as possible.

my suggestion for you is get a note pad and make a dinner plan for a few nights in advance. you can start out with easy things (if you're not an experienced cook) like pasta or tacos, chicken and mashed potatoes. then the more comfortable you get the more you can try new things. good luck!

I pretty much cook every single night now. Ive gotten really into cooking within the last few months (not that I didnt before but now im cooking ALOT more often and alot more different "menu" items). I LOVE it! Go to allrecipes.com and just start printing off recipes and making them! I LOVE that site im on there pretty much everyday! I love finding new things to make for DH and I...he is SOOO picky so when i find something I think he may like, and then cook it and he loves it...it makes me very happy!

Definitely agree! When I started cooking I made a meal plan for the week and went to the grocery store with a list of only the ingredients i needed for those meals. It actually helps you save money at the grocery store too because your not just buying all kinds of random things. Also, say for instance your making a roast (I make a roast and potatoes and carrots) you pretty much know theyll be a good amount of leftovers...then fill one of the other weekdays meal plans in with your "leftovers" and youll save even more money!

I cook every night as Kirsty is eating the same as us.

I do a meal plan for about 15-20 dinners and bulk shop. I have stumbled upon a heap of quick & easy dinners if you need some inspiration

I don't like to cook. I make 5 or 6 meals a week... some of those are just left overs I guess. I find it soooo stressful.

I only have a few dishes that I rotate through haha. oh well.

I cook 2 to 3 times a week. I cook big meals so that we have some leftover for our lunches and dinner for the next day. ITs normaly every other day that I cook or every 3rd day. I like to have leftovers in the fridge at all times for Will b/c he's trying to lose weight and I dont want him eating junk all the time.

I should definitely invest in a meal plan for every 2 weeks. We go grocery shopping every 2 weeks.

I cook about 3 nights a week and DH cooks once a week, sometimes more...usually on the weekends.

I prefer to think of things day of and shop for those ingredients. We make everything from scratch, so I like to go get produce/meat that day b/c it is freshest. We have the time to do that now....maybe once the baby comes that will change.

I cook almost every night.. Even on the days I work.. I just make quick meals like oven back Mac and Cheese or Turkey sausage with egg noodles.. Just takes 30 minutes to cook. Or I pre-make stuff the day before I go back to work..

We do eat out every Friday, so I can have a break..

Edit:

Here's a site you should check out.. It has a quick and easy recipes for those busy days...

All recipes ? complete resource for recipes and cooking tips

I cook maybe twice a week, Dh cooks 2-3 times a week. We make enough for lots of leftovers. Dh detests cleaning the kitchen and I'm not willing to cook AND clean each night so he cooks some nights.
I need to plan ahead better but we always end up right before grocery shopping time trying to figure out what to make the next week and drawing blanks.

Cooking is a lot less fun when you have dietary restrictions. I will eat almost anything if you put some cheese on it so going off dairy has been tough. I've been sneaking in small amounts every once in awhile lately though.

I cook 5-6 nights, just depending on the meals planned. We do pizza/takeout twice a month, maybe once more for a special occasion. The rest are all meals I cook at home or leftovers.

When DH is here I cook decent meals probably 5 nights a week, one night I'll do something easy like a frozen pizza then another night we'll eat out.

When he's not here I'm not as good about cooking real meals but I do on occasion.

I look on various websites for recipe ideas and am always looking for new things. I like to use my crock pot too because I feel like I'm not really cooking.

I've just recently started cooking every night, I really wanted to get into the habit because I think it's important for my children. Not that eating out is bad and I'm sure we will with them, but I want that "whole family around the table for dinner" thing you know?

I found an amazing site called Menus 4 Moms, and I've been using it a lot to make up my meal plans. I do a week at a time. This also helps my grocery bill because I'm able to go in, get exactly whats on my list for dinners, and that's it.

Before starting our meal plan I did this

1 Bag, 5 Dinners

It's one grocery bag/stop and 5 dinners. It actually had some pretty yummy, really really easy meals... but they weren't healthy haha..

It has a list you can print out for all the ingredients you need. It's nice cause you buy one ingredient that will be used a couple times usually.

I think I might start doing it again.

I think Dh and I split it almost 50/50 and we cook around 6 nights a week. The only time we usually get fast food is if Dh works late, or he has off and we're out and about.

Yes, please share!!!

I cook 5-7 nights a week. Chris "cooks" once in a while (easy things like pasta... or heating a frozen pizza ). I usually plan my meals for the week on Sunday.
