I am not talking about just back labor. All labor has "back labor". I am talking about those who had a complete posterior baby at the time of delivery, so it required either a c section or your baby was born facing upwards. Anyone? Jess? Statistics say that very few are actually delivered face up, even if they were face up during labor.
Second question: who had pitocin during labor?

Lyla was posterior and was face up when the doc did the c-section. I had major back labor and labored for 18 hours before getting stuck at 9.75 and had a lip that wouldn't go away.
My contractions also wouldn't start on their own after my water broke- my doc started me on pitocin right away.

Not sure on Kirsty's position... she was in a "normal" position so I guess that means her back was along my tummy?
No pit for me, I didn't need it thankfully!! I was 4cm upon arrival at the hospital, my waters broke 30mins after being checked and I was 10cm and pushing

Christine did you have an epi? When mine was on, it didn't touch the bak pain at all (one person online compared her natural, vaginal, anterior baby labor to mine. She said she knew how I felt. Ha! Unbelievable!!). I had what I call your run of the mill back labor before Jack flipped to be posterior, and it was painful but was NOTHING compared to the back of his head being stuck in my pelvis. UGh! And pitocin sucks. They really crank it with posterior babies b/c often your labor slows since the baby isn't descending in the ideal way.
Fiona, I want your birth next time!

I was very lucky indeed! First contraction was 3:10am, went to the hospital around 3pm and was 4cm, 5pm water broke, was 10cm and started pushing. She arrived via episiotomy/suction at 7:27pm

I had HORRIBLE back labor. Kennedi was sunny side up of course cuz why would she go the easy way. She did move though. Once my water broke is when we think she moved cuz thats when I started to feel "actual" contractions in my belly, and let me tell you they are CAKE compared to back labor. Back labor is a million times worse than hell! I did 30 hours natural no meds with back labor, and I was ONLY 3cm so they came at me with the pit, it was either get it or go home. So I told them NO pit until I had an epi (now Im disappointed that I didnt even TRY one contraction on pit in bed). 8 hours later I had Kennedi.

Amara was posterior and I eventually had to have a c-section. I tried everything to make her turn prior to labor and then I hoped that she would turn during labor so that I could have my natural birth but no such luck.
Even though I had intense back labour it wasn't ridiculously bad for me until the midwives broke my water.

I just wish I was able to have been able to stand during labor, or do hands and knees. That would have helped me. I sure don't have the physiology to push out a posterior baby on my back.
They broke my water too. Lauren, did they break your water?

Yes, the doc. broke my water about an hour or so after starting the pitocin. It was a surprise, haha, because I kinda thought he was just checking me, but then I felt this huge gush. I was also hooked up to the monitors and not allowed to move around that much... but when the nurse left, I would just unhook myself and walk around. I was so over it! haha!

I was induced for medical reasons so yes I had pitocin. And it sucks and didn't work at all. I labored for 11 hours and my 1cm I had when I came in went back to 0cm. It sucked I could not move besides when I barfed a million times, I couldn't talk and anytime some one talked and I was not dilated enough for the epi. I remember my room mate who had already had her baby had a bunch of people come to see her baby. in the same room I was laboring in . I got so pissed I garbed my gatorade and threw it at her and screamed... thats when I got my own room. Then they asked Chris if they could give me something in my IV for pain and he said yes. My doctor ran in told me I had to have a c-section because I had fever, and Landen's heart rate was scary high . The last thing I remember is they got me naked at said "The good news in all this is we can remove the very bad scar" as soon as they said that the pain meds kicked in (kinda) and I was all ***** YEAH LOL! Waking up was the worst feeling in my life because I had no bump and my baby was no where near me. When I finally got to see him I was to drugged up to hold him I couldn't even nurse him. Chris had to go home since it sucks here. So the first time I held him was 5 hours after I had him the nurse came in and asked if I were going to BF and then popped him on my boob held him their for awhile then took him away until the next day.
LOL Sorry this got long!

I've never had either. I had pitocin last time but it wasn't until after Lochy was already born.
My Mom however had her third who was not only born posterior but also a facial presentation. His lips were purple and swollen for several hours after birth because that was the first part of him born. I don't know how she did it pain med free, that couldn't have been fun.
I admire all you ladies that go through what you have. I've been very lucky so far. Although I do think Lila is going to pose some problems.

I was on Pitocin as I had been 3-4cm for over 12 hours.
I can't recall exact times, but it only got me from a 4 to a 6 in about 6 hours I believe. I progressed quickly only after my water was broken.

HA, that is great! When my legs were working I tried squatting, but then I would get too dizzy and couldn't do more.

I had pit from start to end. Never needed much though only ended up on 12. My SIL was MAXED at like 42. The good thing about my induction is even though it was long, the midwives did a good job making sure my heart was never over worked (cause i was induced for medical reasons), and that I was still on just enough pit to make progress. Pit without epi was not too bad but then again, Its not like I was on a whole lot of it anyway. And my labor was in my back the entire time, but JJ was facing the right direction when he came out. I still say i probably could have labored without an Epi but I was so tired that once they broke my water at 4am, i was delirious from lack of sleep and pain. After that Epi i slept until about 45 minutes before push time.

I wish I could have had pit like this! The long labors can be really rough. It is hard to have enough energy and deal with pain and pit when you are short on rest. Sounds like JJ turned at the last minute maybe?
I still play the if game. If my bp wasn't quite so high. If my reflex tests were not abysmal. If I didn't have to go on loads of pit. I just feel like it was all too extreme. I went on HIGH doses of mag, So I then went on high doses of pit since labor stopped. Then I had to stop the mag b/c I had too much of that. Then start it again. Then more pit. I want my next baby teleported out of my body
And no more pit ever again. I think it increases risk of rupture for previous cesarians, doesn't it? Forget that.

No I had a easy labor. Other then the HORRIBLE back labor. I got to the hospital at 3am got epi at 4 and was at 3. No Pit thank goodness!l I progressed fast though. At 8am I was 6 and by 11 I was done and just had to wait for my doctor to come and get me. and Cambria was born just before 1pm. I had a fever though so they kept the IV In me for 2 days!!! I wasn't happy about that.

My water broke in the morning on the 13 and nothing happened so the next day around noon I was put on pitocin. It was very intense.... and it took an hour and Dustin was born.
