Wow, that title got weird.

So I was going to post to Angela about the nursing pads her and Jess just RAVE about... and then I realized all you current preggos could probably benefit from this as well!

Here is a link to the breast pads -
LANACare Ekstra Wool Nursing Pads - Nurtured Family

Anyway... these indeed do rock. Granted, I haven't used anything else... but I can't imagine using anything else. I will say though, and this is funny to me... that occasionally I feel like I smell like a barnyard animal. But that's because they're wool and I think anything that smells like wool obviously smells like animal, haha.

Then the other thing... diva cup users! I have my old diva cup but I know for sizing once you have a kid you have to switch sizes. So did you mamas switch sizes after you had your kid? I guess I need to order a new one. Not sure when AF will come back but I'd hate to be stranded. I LOVE my diva cup. I remember reading a thread about diva cups while I was pregnant and actually MISSING using mine. Pretty ridiculous! So yeah, new mamas... did you 'size up' like you're supposed to?

I feel like this was a really scattered, random post. Oh well.

Thanks Shan for the info on the breast pads.

The Divacup was always weird to me, the concept on how to use it and empty it is what grosses me out. You ladies dont end up with bloody hands? What if you're out all day and have to take it out and wash it?

i love my diva cup too. and yes it can get a bit messy, but it just washes right off! when you're out and about you just dump it in the toilet and then dry it off with toilet paper and put back in, then go and wash your hands. at least thats what i do. the major benefit that i like is that you only have to change it like 2-3 times on a super heavy day, and only 1-2 times on a regular day. other major benefit is that you dont have to buy pads/tampons anymore. on heavy days i use my divacup + a cloth pad at night.

sorry i sorta threadjacked there telling chelle about the diva cup, i'm not sure about the resizing, but i'd say its probably a good idea. i mean, a whole human was in there, so it was bound to have changed things a little bit.

I JUST figured out the answer to the 3 weeks ago..... For me I was able to use the same size cup with no issues what so ever. I just used my old cup (I boiled it though). I was thinking of getting the bigger one also because I wasn't sure....since now I'm older and with child they are suppose to be for me..but this one still works so I figure if it isn't broke don't fix it And I secretly like the fact the "small who-ha" one still works! And Chelle--I don't get blood on my hands at all...there is a little stem thing you just pull down on. Its so much easier than it sounds! LOL

And I TOTALLY told you, you would love those pads! Aren't they amazing I had a couple other pairs I tried and I hated them. I only used them during wash day for the good ones...I bi+ched the whole day I had to use them also..it took 3 pair to do what that one pair could everyday. must must must have for all preggos!!!!!
And with the smell.....I have scented wool wash..so mine had those smell on them (I loved it to--you could catch me smelling them LOL)

Next time I am trying those pads. I think I may try the diva cup too. Hopefully my whoo-ha is small still too. I never bothered with trying one before because my cycles were always wacky, and then tampons just become habit. I always thought tampons were gross though.

The first cycle when I was learning how to use it, etc. I probably got blood on my hands a couple of times. I've never spilled the cup or anything though... so it wasn't any more blood than you'd occasionally get from putting a tampon in, kwim? Also, I only change it every 12 hours or so so I haven't ever had an issue of not being able to change it at home (or at someone's house - ie: not in a public bathroom w/ stalls) ...

I noticed that I feel less crampy, my periods were shorter and it was just nice not having to deal with all of the chemicals of pads and tampons. The fact that I dont have to buy those items anymore definitely helps too!

Why the special wash for wool?

I will def be trying the breast pads for this baby and I want to try the diva cup once I am ready for anything to go near my va-jay-jay again! Girls who used these breast pads, how many pairs did you have? Did you think that was enough? Thanks!

So do you need the wash and spray? What is the spray for?

Holy crap! That list of smells is HUGE! I don't know how I'd ever pick one! What one(s) do you have? And what size bottle should I get? I have no idea how much you use, etc.

I had 2 pairs, which was plenty. You only have to wash once a week or so. That's why you need the special wash. The lanolin in the wash makes them "self cleansing." When they get too wet, you just take them off and let them dry while you wear the other set.

Never used spray. I think that's probably for wool diaper covers rather than breast pads...

I love love love the monkey farts scent. Georgia sunrise is great too. I think I only went thru about 1 ounce over the course of 9 months (didn't need pads after that). I sent 3 (or was it 2?) bottles to Angela cuz I never used them!

Butt naked is my fav!!!!!!!!!! with Georgia Sunrise a close second. The strawberry is boring compared to the above two but still good. Of the 3 I got from Jess I have used a total of maybe ONE bottle (and I use them for wool covers for my diapers also!)!
You Use only use 1-2 tsp each wash, and I washed them every 3-4 weeks. Yes ONE pair last that long---its insane how cool these are! And I'm talking 24 hr a day coverage with a heavy let down. The wash day I did the cheap pads at night and the bed was soaked EVERYTIME! DH wasn't impressed
Heck I want to buy more cloth JUST so I can smell these soaps more! LOL

get the 1 oz bottles! Then try 2 scents that will be plenty for the pads...but since your CDing....it may be an excuse to get some wool!
