I had my BABY!!! She was born on Feb 4th. I never thought she would come so soon. I emailed Shannon for her number the morning I went into labor (I didn't know I was in labor), but things just progressed so quickly, we left to the hospital before I received her message and then 30 inches of snow came...
Sooo needless to say, it has taken me a while to make the annoucement.
I don't have a super long birth story, things went pretty much per protocall.
At around 5 am, I was feeling menstural crampy, but that is pretty usual for me. The cramps became more painful, but not regular....and they still felt dull aching, not like I would imagine a contraction. Well, they became painful enough that I immediatly told DH he has to take me in b/c I could be in labor.
We left for the hospital around 6:30 am, by this time the contractions still werent regular and I never timed anything....I just was not in the mood to be looking at the watch, just following my instincts. But they were so painful I couldn't talk or even keep my eyes open.
We arrived at the hospital at 8am. I was checked and at 4cm 100% effaced (the day before I had my routine appt and I was 2cm 80%). They sent me to L+D. I got an epidural at 10:30. I was 6cm now and my bag of waters was broken by the midwife.
At this point I was just relaxing in bed feeling no pain. With a couple of the contractions baby's HR would start to drop into the 70s, but it return back to normal soon after. Still this was concerning. The Dr said it was b/c baby's head was probaby in the birth canal and it was almost time to push. I was checked again (it was 12:30 now) and I was 9cm, but with an anterior cervical lip...and you arent supposed to push if you have a lip. Baby's HR continued to drop with contractions and the staff was making me change postions and what not to get it back up. At this point, I was sure I would be given an emergency c/s. But the Dr checked me one more time (12:45), and I was 10cm with no lip and baby's HR was doing better. So, time to push! I couldn't feel my contractions at all...so the nurse would tell me when to start and end pushes. 3 pushes later and she shot out like a rocket! I thought she was going to fly off the bed. I tore, but not badly.
She was born at 1:01 pm, 6lbs 3oz, 21 inches long. Perfectly healthy and a great baby. She is breastfeeding and doing everything she should be doing. She looks just like my DH. Has his dark hair and dark eyes.
