Around 2am this morning!
I'm kind of excited although I didnt get much lol.
I'm going to "attempt" to do it part-time while on maternity leave to see how I like it. I bought everything new though b/c BF has a serious issue with used CD. He all for CDing if it can help save money, but just not used CD.
So far I bought (all from BRU since I was online there):
2 - 100 pk of biodegradable disposable liners
1 - Trial pack of Kushies Ultra Diaper - infant
1 - 12 pk of Gerber Pre-folds
2 - 6pk of Organic 3-ply Gerber Pre-folds
2 - 4pk Snappis
I plan to buy from GMD:
2 - Bummis Super whisper Wrap - small
1 - Thirsties V2 - newborn
1 - Thirsties Duo - size one
I want to buy some one size, pockets or AIO's, once I find them for cheap. I figure I'll end up spending about $200 total on my start up stash and see how I like it.
I figure I'll probably have to wash every 2 to 4 days b/c I'll be using both sposies and CDs.

exciting!!!! keep looking for used CD, if you find ones that are in good of shape as the ones i found i guarantee that your so won't know they are used. the ones i got didnt have a mark on them, they were the bummis (i think, i put them away for now but i think that was the name). i wish i had some nb ones cause i would totally loan them to you but i am borrowing them from my friend.
keep an eye out for chinese prefolds too, i think that they are the super absorbant ones from what i recall.

Where do I get chinese prefolds from?
I'm also looking into Flip CDs. They seem fairly easy as well.

Bummi's i think are chinese prefolds. I think a lot of people make them as a work at home mom type of thing. Diaperswappers.com might have soemthing like that.

*cringe* Please do not try to use Gerber prefolds to diaper a baby... they will not work. From what i hear, baby pee runs right through them. Though they will be great as burp rags.
I really recomend you get prefolds from GMD. They're prefolds are awesome! I bought some last time i was pregnant. They are so soft and absorbant. They are also pre-shorted, so no folding down.
Everything else on your list looks good!

Yeah I second the gerber prefolds....they aren't really prefolds and have turned off SO many people to CD as well.
I've heard mixed things about kushies.
But the Flip I think you will really love, I have 2 covers and LOVE how stretchy they are. I'm sad Nolan wont fit into them right away - but DH has claimed them as "his" diaper, hehe.
I have little lions prefolds....they quilt up SO soft and nice.

lol well thats most of the list that I already bought Alice and heather lol. I saw the ones on GMD but the gerber ones were cheaper.
Thanks Heather for your input on Flips. They seem so easy. i have a feeling I'm going to be spending about $300 on my part-time stash lol

Yeah....they are cheaper for a reason.
And with the Flips - 2 day packs and you are good to go, really. Especially for a part time stash. As long as they work for your baby, you get enough covers & inserts in the day packs. Plus you can also use trifolded prefolds in the flips - which is what I am going to do if I need more inserts because the inserts alone (While SUPER absorbant) are expensive.
And they just came out with a few new colors of covers so you can have some variety.

Yup!
So you could just buy 1 day pack for now to see how they work with Lani, and then if you like it you could order another. Lot's of places even offer free disposable flip inserts with a minimum purchase, or buy one get one free. I'll send you a link on FB next time I see it come up on an email!
And if you end up not liking them....they are REALLY popular right now, so you shouldn't have a problem selling them to fund something you do like.

ok I hate to tell you this but those gerber prefolds are HORRIBLE for actually CDing. They are ok for spit rags though. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not base what you think CD are going to be like off of those things. ITs a VERY normal mistake because they are so cheap (for a good reason) that people think they are getting a steal. But really they are going to end up doing a TON of extra laundry---because those diapers will leak on the clothes/blankets/etc. In general BRU SUCKS at CDing! BIG TIME! I just sold my Kushies....They were ok but I just found myself grabbing for them less and less because I had better diapers.
GMD are much better (and yep more expensive). The Flips your talking about are, from what I have heard from a ton of CD moms....one step up from Gerbers. (so the second cheapest---again for a reason).
If you like the idea of a flip here is a better why to do it
Get a Booroi cover and some prefolds (NOT gerber) and then just fold the prefold in 1/3 and put in the cover! I LOVE these covers. I also just use any of my covers and lay a prefold folded into 1/3 on london...I stopped using snappies months ago!

Ok Ok you ladies have convinced me. Off to buy some GMD prefolds and flips (if I dont like them, I'll go on DS and sell them.
What about Econobum?
Is there any reason why the Thirsties AIO V2 are only going for $10 and $11? Do they leak often?

I have mostly GMD PF's and fitteds with thirsties and bummis covers. I got my pockets and Blueberry covers from Swaddlebees. I've heard very good things about Kissaluvs size 0's as well! Oh and I have 6 gDiapers as well.

Only because they are being discontinued and replaced with a Duo Diaper. Just like the wrap, but it is a pocket diaper instead.
I've heard great things about econobum, but I don't have one so I can't give my pre-baby assessment on them, haha. DS is great to read reviews on diapers....I don't need any more but I want to try some mother-ease fitteds....ugh. I need to stop reading DS.

Sara I was reading on the CD board about Kissaluvs size 0. A lot of websites are out of them so I guess they're pretty good.
Heather I have Thirsties Duo and regular Thirsties on my list from GMD. I plan on getting both the Flip and Econobum packages (both $50). I think I'm going overboard lol. Somebody stop me!

i don't know if you need to bother with flip and econobum. They are basically just prefolds with covers. But if you are buying prefolds anyway, better to just buy a good cover and snappi. I hear thirsties are great!

I just bought 2 used kissaluvs (the old style, not microfiber) and I'm going to order more from pittsburghdiapers.com. They have them in stock!

Chelle I blame you and this thread...I'm in serious nesting mode and because of this thread I ended up buying 3 newborn fitteds as my "valentines day present". Tsk Tsk.
Now who will get here first...Nolan or his swaddlebees....

LOL its not my fault Heather, I'm just the CD novice who asks a million and one questions and need advice and opinions before I make purchases.
I think the Swaddlebees will get here 1st!
Sara, I could look this up but I'm just going to ask... For the Kissaluvs, do you need covers for them or can they be stand-a-lone? There are no inserts right?
