Did you go back to work? How did your transition back go? What can of childcare did you decide on? Are you pumping?

Hi girls! I am so bad at updating... so thanks for keeping track of me.

I did go back to work. This week is my first week back, so I'm on my 3rd day of work now. It's been exhausting having to wake up early and rush out the door. The students and my coworkers have all been very excited to have me back. I have a pile of paperwork and meetings that started up immediately, but I'm enjoying getting back into the groove of things. I really like my job and missed it while I was gone. It's a good job and gives me a sense of being productive and accomplished. I'm pumping twice a day in my office and getting enough milk to replace what he's eating while I'm gone, plus I have some stocked up in the freezer so that's going well. Dominic still has yet to eat anything besides mama's milk and I'm proud of myself for doing what I need to keep that going.

We ended up arranging a nanny in our home. She is fantastic! She's an older, grandmotherly type who has done childcare for over 16 years. She's very dependable and trustworthy (references and background check were all great). Best of all, she is one-on-one with Dominic and can give him her full attention all day, and he gets to stay in his own environment. It's not all that much more expensive than the daycares around here that I checked into, though I'm fortunate that we can afford to do this because I do consider it a luxury. We will probably keep Dominic with a nanny (hopefully Sandra the whole time) until he's at least 2 years old when he could actually benefit from the socialization of a daycare environment. Even then we will probably look into an in-home daycare or sharing a nanny between a couple of families with similar aged children.

Sounds like everything is going well!!! A great in home nanny is a great thing--I did it for a few years and it was really wonderful. And good for you for still breastfeeding and pumping. I'm totally jealous of you ladies who can go back to work and still pump enough for you babies. My boobs hate the pump and it takes me 4 sessions just to get enough for one feeding. You're doing great Kyle!!!

I would love an in-home nanny when Lani is born. Its so convenient. No extra stops to or fro work. The only thing is when the Nanny gets sick but that will probably rarely happen

I'm glad all is going well and it's great that you were able to get an in-house nanny. Kudos to keeping up with the pumping. It takes a lot of committment to be able to stick to it.

Chelle, I'm not sure of Kyle's official title but she's a therapist and if I remember correctly she works at a school.
