Hi girls! I am so bad at updating... so thanks for keeping track of me.
I did go back to work. This week is my first week back, so I'm on my 3rd day of work now. It's been exhausting having to wake up early and rush out the door. The students and my coworkers have all been very excited to have me back. I have a pile of paperwork and meetings that started up immediately, but I'm enjoying getting back into the groove of things. I really like my job and missed it while I was gone. It's a good job and gives me a sense of being productive and accomplished. I'm pumping twice a day in my office and getting enough milk to replace what he's eating while I'm gone, plus I have some stocked up in the freezer so that's going well. Dominic still has yet to eat anything besides mama's milk and I'm proud of myself for doing what I need to keep that going.
We ended up arranging a nanny in our home. She is fantastic! She's an older, grandmotherly type who has done childcare for over 16 years. She's very dependable and trustworthy (references and background check were all great). Best of all, she is one-on-one with Dominic and can give him her full attention all day, and he gets to stay in his own environment. It's not all that much more expensive than the daycares around here that I checked into, though I'm fortunate that we can afford to do this because I do consider it a luxury. We will probably keep Dominic with a nanny (hopefully Sandra the whole time) until he's at least 2 years old when he could actually benefit from the socialization of a daycare environment. Even then we will probably look into an in-home daycare or sharing a nanny between a couple of families with similar aged children.
