I posted this in 'WTTC Weight Loss' but noone answers me in there!! LOL!

Does anyone here do Weight Watchers?

With all my dramas towards the end of last year, I put on a bit of weight which I haven't managed to lose. I'm natually a small person, around 53-54kg's and am a size 8 to 10.

Over summer I literally haven't been able to even do up my size 10 pants and I've been feeling so disgusting and unattractive.

I have been 'dieting' (translation: just trying to eat healthy and excerise more, I don't 'diet' very well - no will power!!) for the last month or so and have already lost almost 2kg's on my own. But I have a wedding in three weeks and I want to get into my only nice dress which is a size 8!

My manager has been doing WW and talked me and my boss into joining. I'm only wanting to lose another 5kg's so felt a little stupid walking into my first meeting yesterday, but the instructor told me everyone has their own goals and reasons for going, so I should continue going.

Just wondering if anyone else is already going to WW and can offer any advise/support?!

I've also started going back to the gym each morning before work.

Tuesday 9th February 2010
First offical weigh in: 57.3kg's

I have nothing to add but want to say good luck. It takes a lot of of determination and dedication to stick to a plan such as WW. Keep up the exercising though. If you can afford it, a personal trainer or nutritionist will definitely get u where you want to be.

Good luck! There are a lot of great plans out there - WW, Atkins, etc. - and we each have to pick the one that works best for us. You will succeed!

I've actually just had my second training session with a personal trainer this morning! Am planning on going to her once a week for the next month or so to see if it makes much of a difference. I normally go to the gym every morning before work, so 5 times a week. I don't think I push myself as much as I should though, hence the personal trainer!! LOL.

My trainer actually said to me she thinks I may keep the weight on, but just tone up. I guess I don't mind that... my main goal is to get my fat bum into my size 10 jeans I brought last summer!!

Shannon - would love some recipes! I made my first WW dinner last night and didn't think it was that nice... too dry. Although could have been my terrible cooking - I really do suck

Would you recommend going to a meeting each week? I went to my first one this Tuesday and got all the books, but am unsure if I'll go every week. Does that help you stick to your goals better? I have my manager and boss checking up on my daily...

I never really went to the meetings. My friend's mom was a leader and so I got all of the materials, and then I knew several people who had successfully done WWs and so we shared tips and recipes etc. I know some people need the accountability of weighing in each week... but I'm always a sticker for following the rules so that was never an issue for me. Personally I didn't gain anything when I did go to the meetings but I had a great support system outside of it to start with.

What did you cook last night? Which plan are you doing? It has been a handful of years since I've been to a meeting or gotten all new materials so I imagine stuff has changed a bit since my time. I always did the flexpoints stuff b/c I eat total crap... and it was easier for me to do that and still be able to eat tacos or pizza or whatever and balance that with better choices throughout the day/week and use portion control. The core plan (where you eat until you're satisfied) would never work for me b/c I don't want to eat all of the really healthy stuff. haha. Since then I think they've come out with a new plan - motivation or something? I don't know. I don't know anything about that.

What did you make for dinner last night? I have a couple of awesome WW cookbooks that are like dinner in 15 minutes... dinner w/ 5 ingredients, etc. I think I posted some recipes in the weightloss subforum, I'll go take a look.

Here's a few recipes I'd posted way back when:

http://www.justmommies.com/forums/f5...casserole.html (deep dish pizza casserole)

http://www.justmommies.com/forums/f5...af-recipe.html (BBQ Meatloaf recipe)

http://www.justmommies.com/forums/f5...bread-pie.html (Dinner tonight: chili-corn bread pie)

JenJen also did WW successfully too, btw.

I lost about 10lbs doing WW almost two years ago!!! I didn't go to the meetings, I joined the online site and followed all the tools and things they give you on there!!! Its a great program and as long as you follow it and stick to your points you should lose some weight in no time!!!

Ooo... thanks for those recipes! Will have to try them out. Last night we had this Thai Chicken and green beans thing with rice. I'm so used to real liquidy Thai Chicken, so maybe that was the problem!

Hmmm... we weren't told about the Flexipoints or Core Plan, so I guess that has all changed since you've done it? What I'm doing is like a points system. All food is allocated a certain number of points, and I'm allowed up to 18 points every day. At the meeting on Tuesday they talked about portion control and chosing healthy, filling foods. I'm generally pretty healthy anyway, my main issue being snacking between meals and having a major sweet tooth. I also LOVE cheese!

Am thinking of going to one more WW meeting next week to pick up my journal (they didn't have one last week) and maybe buy a recipe book. I was given a little folder with a few recipes, so will try some more.

As you say, with support outside of the meetings, I won't need to go...

Thanks for that

Yeah the points system is what I did. You're allowed X number of points per day based on your weight, etc. and then each food has a point value based off of calories fat & fiber so you just eat within your limit. That's why it worked so well for me b/c I could eat ANYTHING as long as I figured out how many points it was. I can't do restrictions... I just needed to know how many points it was so I knew if it was 'worth it' to me... like if I wanted a greasy burger, okay, but that means eating really well the rest of the day or week and consuming low point foods like veggies, etc.

i did WW briefly and did lose weight i believe. i didnt have a ton to lose but with sticking to the points it did come off quick if i remember right. shan does have a ton of good ww recipes, i should look back at them too.

i did the online version but i always thought i'd benefit from going to the meetings but i was too chicken to actually ever go to one a) because i didnt have a whole lot to lose and b) cause toronto people scare me.

i also weigh about 57.3kgs right now, but could probably only realitically lose about 2 kg if i really put my mind to it. you got me inspired tasha, after this whole debacle in my uterus is over i think i will try to lose a bit of weight until i get preggo again

Ooo... Sarah, we could do WW together! I'm short (162kg), so can go down to 52kg and still be within my 'healthy weight range'.

I felt really silly going onto the meeting! But was with my manager so had someone to talk to! I only think I'll go to one more though...
