I remember when you were pregnant, that you were able to pick up heart tones with your stethoscope. How far along were you when you were first able to hear them?

I'm not Angela (obviously ) but I remembered seeing in an email update type thing recently (I'd say within the last week or two) that said you could start hearing the HB with a stethoscope now. I don't have one to try though.

Not Angela either, but I could hear his HB at around 20 wks. I have a very good stethoscope though (Littmann Cardiology III) and have a lot of experience auscultating hearts. I doubt I could have picked it up that early with a cheap stethoscope.

I tried the other day with my mom's and had no luck. I'm guessing it will have to wait until closer to 20 weeks. I got a 3MHZ doppler for $60 on eBay though and can pick baby up on that!

I was thinking about 20 weeks but I looked it up on my blog and that said it was about 26 weeks! I have the same one as Jessie.

Alice I still have my Hi-Bebe doppler if you want to borrow it for a little while. I couldn't have survived the first 16 weeks or so without it.

I was just screwing around with a doppler at work. The little skinny ones for finding pulses with. I found a heartbeat, but i think it might have been mine lol. It seemed too slow. I wasn't able to keep with it long enough to time it though. Maybe a little over 100.

I dont have a stethoscope but I first got my hi bebe monitor around 16 weeks and found the heartbeat when I first used it. When I get closer to delivery, I too can let one of you ladies borrow it.

I have the samw stethoscope as Jesse too, but I wasn'y able to hear anything until 26 weeks. And it was hit or miss....very hard to find, sometimes we couldn't find it at all. Took DH about 15 minutes of searching the first time. I don't think it is a good way to hear the HB regularly...dont worry if you cant pick it up.

The doppler we used to find pulses was the same doppler I used in L&D at our hospitals------so there you go you found your "way"

That sounds right. My HR picks up around 50-70 BPM. Baby's picks up around 120-130 even though on u/s it is ALWAYS in the 150's. I think I just being 'off' a wee little bit can make it hard to get an exact reading.
