I just got a phone call from my Mum... My Dad is on a boating trip down in the South Island and he fell over and cracked his head open. He has bruising on the brain and has lost his short-term memory. He knows he has daughters but no idea what mine or my sisters names are.

The doctor told Mum it isn't life threating 'yet' but that she will call us the moment she feels we need to go down there.

His best friend who lives near the city he is currently in, is on his way to the hospital. He's going to call us when he gets there. My Mum and I are up in the top of the North Island and Dad is in a hospital in the South Island - last minute flights are sooo expensive so we are hoping we won't have to go down. Obviously we will if we have to... that's what credit cards are for, right?!

I have to go home after work and pack a bag, so can leave from work directly tomorrow if I need to. The airport is 2.5 hours from where I am now and I will pick up my Mum on the way.

T&P's please. I'm so scared for my Daddy

We (Mum, sister and myself) are heading down to Dunedin today. Nothing much has changed with Dad, although they have moved him into a ward which is a good sign I guess. We just feel useless up here.

The airlines have said if we fill out some forms and get a letter from his doctor they may refund part of our tickets, so that is great.

Will keep you posted.
