I'm sooo not "green" anymore like I use to be before having a child.

-I NEVER remember my reusable bags.
-Drive an SUV
-Stopped CD (only have about 4 CD's left that fit him)
-Want to get rid of our electric mower and get a gas mower (sick of dealing with the cord!)

But I do still.

-Recycle
-Wear cloth pads
-Eat natural/organic
-Use natural products for cleaning and hygiene

I might be forgetting some other things I do or stopped doing..

Since having Matthew I:

-use cloth bags for grocery shopping less but still use them some of the time
-eat way less organic, I still do some fruits but I never buy organic meat anymore. I used to go on certain days and be able to find it on sale marked down but now I grocery shop when it's convenient. I am not willing to spring for $7 a pound chicken breast.
-lazier about recycling, but still do some
-stopped using natural hygeine (shampoo, etc) products, again, used to bargain shop for them and now I don't feel like paying the $ they cost. I may use my cloth pads again if AF ever shows up.

i'm not perfect with 'being green' either! i'd love to be but really its just not how city living was designed.

why i'm 'bad':
-drive SUV
-sometimes forget reusable bags
-use non 'natural' detergent for my dishwasher cause its the only thing that gets the dishes clean
-occasionally buy non 'natural' laundry soap if its on sale
-dont eat organic meats/cheeses/milk (too expensive & organic meats guy only comes to city a few times a month and i always miss him)
-used disposable pads with my m/c

why i'm 'green':
-usually remember reusable bags
-make myself a coffee/tea in a travel mug instead of buying one in a paper cup
-eat all organic veggies & fruits
-home cook most meals & send food to work with DH in reusable containers, avoiding all that takeout waste.
-use organic lotions (i feel like if ur slathering it all over your body its worth it to get organic)
-bought my CD stash used & will be borrowing a set of newborn CD
-will use divacup again with AF in the future
-i recycle, but we have to where we live, its mandatory

oh theres probably more on both sides, but i do what i can & that's all i can do!

I'm so not green! We recycle and I want to try the diva cup after baby. I plan to CD and BF. That's about it.

I drive an SUV (only a 4 cylinder but still lower MPG than a compact), eat out alot, don't use reusable bags (we use grocery bags for cleaning up dog poo), use a gas mower, don't have an HE washer, etc.

I think sometimes we have to sacrifice things to be parents. Being green is something that, while important, is not the end all be all of life. As long as we all try a little bit it helps a lot in the end!

I'm way greener post-kids than I was pre-kids.

- We only have MAYBE four plastic toys in the house, the rest are wood or cloth
- Exclusively cloth diaper
- Cloth pads/sea sponge tampons for me
- Recycle almost everything
- Won't buy something if the majority of the waste can't be recycled
- Don't eat out or buy highly processed junk foods
- Buy strictly organic/hormone-free whenever possible
- Try to upcycle or donate to Goodwill whenever possible, don't really like to throw anything away
- Use mostly natural products for hygiene and cosmetics
- Only use reusable shopping bags (I think they're way cuter anyway!)
- All of our appliances are EnergyStar and our washer is an HE (though technically, I hate HE washers for cloth diapers but mine's alright)

I do however drive an SUV though my onboard computer tells me my actual MPG and I'm usually right around 22 mpg in the city and 26 on the highway which isn't tooooo bad. I just can't give up my SUV, though - I've got two kids, a dog, and a husband who loves his toys!

I'm about the same greenyness as I have always been.

- I recycle EVERYTHING unless its dirty.
- all natural cleaning products... unless were broke then I get the cheap stuff
- I unplug things all the time
- I only get organic milk (because I get it for free bwahahaha)
- Chris car pools
- I donate all our old clothes to an orphanage and a woman's shelter .

- I ALWAYS forget my reusable bags... Winch sucks when I go to a German store because for the most part they do not give you a bag, if you want one you have to buy it.
- I don't CD, not that I didn't want to I just could not afford it.
- I do not use natural body wash because it gives me a rash lol!
- I like my tampons

Resi its bad arse that you do all the stuff you do!!! I'm guessing Oliver is as "fun" as Landen is right now lol its hard to get stuff done at this age!!! I bet once he is older you will get back into it!

I'm not that green at all. I honestly can't think of one area that I am. I mean, I don't leave lights on or leave the water running but that's about it. Now I feel lame

Oh wait! Andy carpools... but we were doing it to save money, not to be green. So there's one green thing LoL!

I find that with every year I become more "green." I don't do major things but I do what I can.

-Ed carpools
-We recycle everything
-We started a compost
-I CD when I can
-I have reusable bags but hardly use them. I need the plastic bags for our trashcans and kittylitter, and the paper bags we put our recyclables in (that way we just throw in the whole bag).
-I always buy used first
-I use tupperware or lunchboxes when possible.
-I donate almost any old things to the daycare. They can take just about anything and turn it into art or something useful.

But I do
-drive a mini SUV
-use bleach and other cleaners
-I never buy organic (unless it's on major sale)

How do u get free organic milk!!? Also we have to buy plastic bags here too, its the law that they have to charge you for them, so that does help with remembering the reusable bags.

~Recycle Plastic,glass,and can's
~Use Reusable bag's 95% of the time
~ I try and buy Organic as much as I can
~Dont use as much light's around the house
~Organic milk, how ever I WISH I got mine for free!!!
~Drive a Compact Car
~Natural cleaning product's

I'd LOVE to do more but DH is one of those guy's that doesn't believe in "Organic", and paying more for green items and since I dont have $$ coming in It's hard for me to buy stuff.

For the most part Damon could care less about organic foods too. He keeps telling me to stop shopping at Whole Foods because we can't afford the prices but I just ignore him. I don't know how to shop at the mainstream stores anymore! I have a huge hang up about it. When I shop at Trader Joe's he is more happy because it's not as pricy but I can't buy everything from TJ's.. only some things.

i agree, when i lived in the states shopping at Whole Foods (or Whole Paycheck, as we called it) was addictive. I just liked going there! We have one whole foods here but its super far away in an area that has no parking (unless u wanna pay $10) so this whole organic delivery service i signed up for is SO awesome. We have basically the equivalent of Trader Joes pretty close by too though, but parking is limited, so i can only go there during the day when i have the car.

I am so not green. We recycle but that's probably where it ends. I just don't have the energy or money to give it the thought--bad, I know.
