OK so Im mostly asking this cause I have a compact ( Mazda 3 4 door ) and were thinking of trading it in for a SUV. I can drive my car with 2 car seats in the back but DH wont be able to ride with us anywhere. He's 6'3 and has to put the seat all the way back and he can't do that with a carseat behind him. Soooooo What kinda of car do you drive? Do you like it? Those of you with LO's, did you buy a new car when #2 came cause of space? Those with one baby do you think you would get a bigger car when you have another one?

We have a lumina... and it's actually pretty big! We easily get two carseats in it and I can still sit between them... but not comfortable haha.
I think we'll see if we can get three across in the back... but I know it's just going to be a HUGE hassle so we need to get a van/suv/ SOMETHING bigger haha
Glad I could help *sarcasm* lol.

We couldn't have two rear facing carseats at the same time in either one of our cars.
I have an Infiniti G35 sedan (aka 4 door) and DH has a Toyota Corolla. In both cars it's super uncomfortable in the front passenger seat (even for me, and I'm 5'6") because the seat has to be so far forward.

We have a 4 door Dodge Caliber. It's kinda small but could fit 2 forward facing and 1 rear facing. We also have a 2 door Chevy Cavalier and it could fit 2 or 3 car seats also. I'd really like a van or large pick up truck though. We'll hopefully be getting one in the next year or so

I bought a 4/5-door SUV (2007 Suzuki Grand Vitara) in January because it was becoming impossible to keep stuffing Amara in my 96 2/3-door Suzuki Vitara (SUV). I've only ever owned SUV styled vehicles. I knew that once she switched over to her convertible carseat that the smaller car would not work at all. I know that the Suzuki is not a popular brand in the US but I find it to be extremely roomy and even with the carseat in the back there's loads of space for the passenger to be comfortable.
Ideally, I would have loved a RAV4 but they were too pricey. I had checked out the Hyundai Tucson and one from Kia as well but the offer on the Suzuki Vitara was pretty good so I went with that and I have no regrets so far. I had also looked at buying a smaller 4/5-door SUV but I know now that the space would have been a bit cramped and uncomfortable on the passenger side.

I have a Toyota Rav4 and love it. It's a mini SUV so it has alot of space but it doesn't use too much more gas. It has a ton of trunk space. And it's great to just open and change a baby in the back. But the downside is you can only really fit 2 kids comfortably.

I have a 4 door Honda Accord and it's pretty roomy. I think we'd be able to fit 2 carseats in there just fine, but we currently put Xander in the middle, so I don't actually know. I'd suggest you bring a carseat(s) with you when you car shop and see just how far the seats have to be moved forward. I'm sure you'd be allowed to toss it in and see.

I have a Saturn Vue that we bought a year ago. It wouldn't work well for someone tall with two car seats for the same reason your current car won't work well. I kind of wish we went with a mini van because the Vue still feels too small with all the baby stuff.

Right now we have a 4 door chevy cavalier and a 4 door dodge dakota! Both will work just fine with one baby since I'm short and my seat doesn't have to be far back at all and we can always put baby behind me instead of DH! About this time next year we do plan to buy an SUV and we are looking at the GMC Terrain.

I have the new style Saturn Vue (SUV) which I think is bigger than the old style (inside) I LOVE it! Obviously I havent tried a car seat in there yet, so I have no idea if it would fit two comfortably. I really want a new Chevy Tahoe, im sure that sucker would fit 3 car seats in it, its huge!

I have a Volvo XC90 (SUV) and absolutely love it. We can fit two carseats rearfacing and still have plenty of leg room in the front. Lee is also 6'3" and has never had an issue riding or driving in my car with both girls.

I went from a Jeep Grand Cherokee (which you've seen, my brown/green SUV I drove when you were here) to a 06 Dodge Grand Caravan. With the Jeep, 2 kids were ENOUGH for that TINY back seat (yes all Jeep's have tiny back seats!!!) When we would go camping I could fit all of our stuff but it was packed. Now with Isabelle coming, there is no way dude...even with a pack thingy on top. I was wanting something that had a 2nd row seating, and was thinking a suburban so I could tow horses at the same time - but when I saw my van I fell in love 2 sliding doors (automatic press of a button open BTW ) DVD system for the kids (lucky butts have watched more movies than I have in the last 5 years!!!) And it has stow n go seating, which means the seats fold down INTO the floor vs having to take them out and store them!! And when the seats are up, you have places for groceries, and you can still have kids over the top of them! I NEVER thought Id own a mini van, but dude, 17-18MPG in town (I know this isnt a lot but remember Im coming from a Jeep where 14 IN TOWN is normal, and thats high for a Jeep) But OMG Im in love with it!!!

We have a Malibu, and I'm so glad I got the True Fit with the removable head rest because there is NO way we would be able to fit a rear facing convertible in the backseat unless we found one that was even shorter!!! Hopefully by the time we need to add the headrest we will have a bigger car. It's amazing how much room car seats take!!!
I'm 5ft 10 but have ridiculously short legs and I'm still smooshed in the passenger seat. There was no way we would be able to fit the seat behind the driver seat with my DH's super long legs.

I have a Acura TL thats very roomy and good enough for 3 carseats and a lincoln LS that we're going to trade in so I can get me an SUV. It'll be an older model b/c we're trying to pay cash for it. I dont really want to keep bending down to get baby in and out of the car.

Good to know. Thats one we've been looking at and since he's tall it's good to know it might not work for what we need.

I have a 2008 Jeep Patriot Sport edition (4 wheel drive- E package). I love it! The Compass is the same engine, transmission, etc with a different body style. I like the square Patriot style better but they are really the same vehicle. We can fit Shane, Gemma, my sister, my nephew and I in no problem. Shane is 6'+.
Shane has a Ford Escape and we can fit both of us, Gemma and the dogs no problem. The only thing is I don't like Fords. We haven't had TOO many problems with the Escape but the tires are like $400+ to replace and we need to get something fixed in the back end that's squeeking but we're afraid it will be big bucks. Not a big fan of the Fords, period.
Oh and I got my Jeep for under $18k with my trade in (2000 Saturn SL2, I got $3k for it).
