Ugh, life with a newborn is so tough! I mean, I know people told me that, but I had no idea...
She is healthy and thriving. She was 6 lbs 3 oz at birth and 7 lbs 7 oz by 2 weeks!
But she is going through a really fussy phase. And it is hard b/c I have no friends or family here to help. DH does what he can, but he is very busy at work. She is very hard to put back to sleep once she wakes to eat. She cries (screams) a lot and demands to be held. I've tried my moby wrap, a swing, a vibrating chair, nothing seems to work very well. The only thing that settles her is to hold her, walk, and bounce at the same time (and nursing, she loves to nurse). Well, this gets very tiring, especially in the middle of the night.
She burps and toots regularly, has good BMs, doesnt fuss when she eats or spit up...so I have no idea why she is so fussy. I've tried gripe water and baby antigas drops and I cant seem to tell if they make a difference.
Plus it is really hard to get out of the house b/c she hates her car seat. She'll fall asleep when we start driving and sometimes stays asleep. But if she wakes up and realizes she is strapped in her seat, she screams.
Anyhow, kind of a downer update! But my mom is coming mid march for a couple days so I'm counting down the days to a bit a relief!

I'm sorry things aren't going great for you but I'm glad that she's doing great minus the fussiness. Lilybug doesn't like the bouncy chair and HATES her swing and so even when she's sleeping I'm holding her. When she's awake she HAS to be being bounced or patted or moving around or she'll start fussing. I'm so thankful she lovessss her moby wraps and other carrier or I'd be in trouble. I know a lot of babies in my PR had carrier preferences... so maybe if a moby doesn't work for you, a bjorn type carrier would or something.
Does she like white noise? Does that help? I'm glad your mom will be coming soon. It'll be nice to have someone to visit with who can help. I love being around my mom b/c she doesn't freak out and hand the baby back when she's crying. It just doesn't bother her like it does with other people... so if Lily has been fed my mom will hold and bounce her for me so my arms can get a bit of a rest. Hang in there, it'll get better.

Hang in there! She sounds a bit like Oliver as a newborn. He wanted to be held upright and walked around all the time. It will be nice to get some help next month when your mom visits.

sounds like she's doing great, although, I'm sorry she's so fussy. Like Shannon said, maybe try another carrier? It may just be that she has a preference. Your mom being there will definitely help you out I think.
Thanks for the update!

I'm sorry you are having a rough time! I bet you are counting down the days until your mom comes. I'm definitely dreading that exhaustion.
I'm glad she is doing well though!

I'm happy she's doing well but sorry about her being fussy. I hope she settles soon. It would be great when your mom comes to help. It is good to get a break.

Yes! Thank goodness. Breast feeding is going great now. Just have to figure a better pumping schedule. I randomly pump now but I think it would be better for my supply if I did it at the same time and daily. But I've been putting it off as I don't have a ton of freezer room and Jenna likes to eat every hr in the day sometimes. Doesn't leave much time (or milk) for pumping.

She sounds just like Xander as a newborn! I used to just pop him on the boob and let him stay there for a few hours on the Boppy so I sit on the couch and watch TV or read. lol. He'd literally stay there as long as I let him and just alternate snoozing and eating. I know it doesn't sound ideal, but when you have a baby that only wants to cry or nurse, well, I say let 'em nurse so you can get some rest! I hope you have a Boppy or similar pillow!

how long did this last for Oliver?
Sorry she's so spoiled and doesnt like anything other than being held and walked around/bounced. You'd think that a swing/bouncer would help, she's smart b/c she knows the difference. There's no fooling her.
I do agree with trying a different type of carrier to walk around in. That might help. What if you sit down and put her on your lap and bounce her in your lap?

I remember Alexa being fussy for the first 4-6 wks. I just held her all the time. Probably why she loves to be held a lot now. It gets better so hand in there. Any new pics to share

Sounds like Jack's newborn stage. Boy did that suck! Luckily, they get older and it gets easier. I would swaddle that little girl - maybe that would help. Or did you mention you already tried that?
Newborns sleeping through the night? Yeah right! Without the swaddle Jack would have been crying a lot, but we sort of used it to shut him up when he was tired, which you know is like every 2-3 hours! Hang in there!
