Last night my gum was swollen today it looked like a white speck like a tooth was cutting so I thought I might of been getting my wisdom tooth but now its like my gum is corroded and its like all along my gum and a bit around my other tooth. Its huge and it hurts sooooo bad my right glands are really swollen too SO I'm trying to work out do I go up to the hospital or wait and go to the dentist? from what Ive heard gum infections can be really dangerous during pregnancy. anyone know what to do????

The hospital will just give you antibiotics and tell you to see a dentist so I'd just go ahead and call your dentist. I hope it turns out to be nothing serious and goes away soon

Sounds like it could be a bit of an abscess -- tell the dentist you have an emergency.

Goodness I don't know. It couldn't hurt to call your OB or midwife just to see if he/she thinks you need immediate attention and in the mean time schedule an appointment with the dentist.

I hope you feel better soon.

definitely call your dentist and tell them what you feel and that you are pregnant, think they should be able to squeeze in an emergency like this.

i hope you feel better soon! KUP!

Id start with your OB and ask them. Then I would probably call up a dentist, they can deal with teeth and infection as well, DONT WAIT!!!

I would just go to your dentist. The emergency room will just give you antibiotics and send you on your way. It could be an abcess, although those are usually just a bump on the gums above or below the tooth that allow the infection to drain out. I would call your office and explain to the what going on, they should be able to get you in.

I would call or go straight to your dentist ASAP. Tell them you are pregnant and suspect some sort of infection. Got to get that check out right away!!!

Thanks for all the advice, I probably should of said in my post that it was 10:30pm here so no dentist open. Also I cant contact my doctor unless its clinic hours.. I ended up going to emergency and they had no idea. The doctor was an idiot seriously he tried to give me pandeine fort which is a paracetamol WITH codeine and its a strong dose. In the end I requested to see a midwife and she thinks it might be my tooth coming through and it caused a blister? She gave me some numbing stuff for it thats safe to take and said to keep an eye on it and see how I go so IDK... I dont have a dentist I havent been to one in so long. Its Saturday now so I dont even think theres one open? The good thing is today it doesnt seem any worse so hopefully it heals other wise I'll go back up to midblock and demand they call in my doctor because he'll know what to do.

Im glad you got to see someone!! It very well could just be your wisdom tooth!!! They can poke through the skin and then go back onto the gums, and thats totally normal. From that you will have swelling and pain.

Hope u get a cure for it soon. It could just as well be your wisdom tooth. Might be time to look up dentists and go to one on Monday.
