I weaseled my way into the doc's yesterday because a potential 3 week wait for a d&c with the ob seemed too overwhelming. i decided to get the misoprostol.

So I took it (or put it in) last night at 10pm. I have to take another dose at 10am today and another dose at 10pm tonight. I started to get period like cramping (nowhere near what i had with the m/c contrax) around an hour after taking it, and then woke up several times with diarhhea and the same cramps in the night. so far nothing in terms of passing the remaining business that's in the uterus. I feel like i should be jumping up and down to try and help loosen stuff in there... i also feel like i should be in more pain than i am! i didnt even take a tylenol.

took the next dose an hour ago...nothing! not even any cramps this time....
i guess it took a few hours to really kick in last night but i was asleep so it seemed like it was quick.

now that i'm googling it says you have to take some other medicine before taking the miso for it to work 90%. i wonder if this is just not doing anything....i wish i had a breast pump, my acupuncturist said that might have worked, and it makes sense....

I didn't have to take anything but the miso, so I don't know anything about that.

Hopefully it does the trick for you - I know you said it was just a tiny amount of tissue that was "stuck" so maybe it wont be anything super dramatic or painful to get it out.

ok Im lost...forgive me...how come you cant get a D&C? why are they dragging this out?? Isnt it bad on your health to drag this out? I hope this works for you!!! I took it to ripen my cervix when I was induced with Ian and it didnt even work. But it sounds like its working somewhat for you!!!

well the dose i took at 10am today did nothing at all. i feel totally fine.
so wierd.

beth i can't get the d&c because the only day the guy could do it was tomorrow and i have to sleep over at the hospital with my lil sis tonight for some testing and then deliver her home on the train tomorrow. and then proceed to my other sisters house (non refundable expensive train ticket). the following week my appt to see the guy is on thurs which makes me think he'll be totally booked for that next friday already (the office was a ZOO). then the following week i'm out of the country. just a comedy of errors really!

theres a small chance i could get in for next friday the 12th....so we'll see.

When I took the misoprostal for my blighted ovum, I put the pills right up next to my cervix rather than taking it by mouth. They say it works both ways, but I had a friend take it by mouth and it had a weaker effect on her than it did on me. It took a couple hours for it to kick in with me, and then I had severe cramping and bleeding for about a day.
