I just noticed my ticker is getting red! I don't know how long it has been there but !!! I'm sure I'll regret saying this later, but can anyone slow this down??? And might I say red is really not a good color to end a pregnancy ticker on... I'm already in a state of panic here I don't need any help! Maybe I should get one of those pretty pink ones...

Anyway, I'm scared, excited, scared, feeling underprepared, scared, and um... did I mention scared? Sometimes I feel confident, but then I will start thinking of the physics of it all and get totally freaked out. Yikes.

On the positive side of things, I'm finally totally bonding with baby. I don't know if any of you remember the doubts I was having early on about not bonding. I kept thinking "it will come with the heartbeat... the first u/s... feeling the firsts movement... finding out the sex..." and it never did. But feeling her every movement now that she's a bit bigger kinda gives her a personality I guess in some weird way? She makes me laugh and smile all the time, she's already lots of fun! Despite being scared, I am excited to meet her.

Did I mention I'm freaked the f*** out??!?!?!?

I'm happy to hear you're bonding with her. Feeling my baby move around and develop a personality is really what sealed it for me as well, before that it was more of an idea than a real thing.

Sorry you're feeling freaked out. It's perfectly normal... Trust me, you'll be just fine. ((((hugs))))

The bonding process happens in it's own time and I'm so glad it's finally happened for you I can't wait to see her! Don't be freaked out, it'll all work out just fine

That feeling doesn't go away, hahaha. You are entering what was my favorite time of pregnancy - around 28 weeks was PERFECT to me. It'll be over before you know it.....or you'll be left sitting there wondering when it is going to be over if you are anything like me.

Awwww! Your so right though it should end on RED! That like induces panic I think! Maybe you should switch to the pink one!

I totally think it should go from Red to green. or just take out Red and make it blue or purple.

to the 3rd trimester

Dont worry, Im not ready either and i'm slightly freaking out as well. Most people in my DDC are so ready, I'm SO NOT READY!!! I hope March goes by slow.

I don't know what's worse emotionally, the first or third trimester.

Did you BTDT mamas do anything in particular that made you feel prepared for birth?

Lee and I did the Hypnobabies course together. Some of it was cheesy and may seem silly, but it was fun to bond together during the pregnancy and feel like we were BOTH preparing for the birth of our baby.

Its so natural and normal to feel so scared and overwhelmed. Honestly once shes in your arms you wont think that ever again!!

Got her room ready was really all I did to feel more ready. I literally had EVERYTHING done and ready once I hit 30 weeks..just had to wait for my shower to get even more stuff ready.

What made me feel more ready was having all baby's "stuff" bought and ready, couldn't have that done will after the shower though.
Making lists also helped me. A list of things to bring to hospital, list of things I needed David to do after the baby was born (add to insurance, etc), list of phone numbers, etc.

I'm so excited for you! Yay for bonding and yay for feeling freaked out! Totally normal.

I think doing hypnobabies is what made me feel ready. Pregnancy FLEW by for me... and the newborn phase unfortunately is too. Everyone told me that it would just drag towards the end and I would be anxious and uncomfortable and miserable but I never was. I think that's b/c of the hypnobabies... I was terribly swollen and pretty sick the last week but I still felt like I had 'months' more to go.

For me, putting Lani's things away makes me feel that much more prepared. Unfortunately, me working on getting thigns ready for her means that a lot of the household duties get put on the side. So maybe I'm not as ready as I thought lol.

I was 'ready' with Gem around where you're at but I had pre-term labor from 27-33 weeks. This time I'm starting to feel like Shannon did. I don't want pregnancy to end. I'm happy, comfortable and not all that excited to deal with feedings, changings and getting up every 2 hours again. I don't think there's any 'one' thing that will help you get ready for birth but when the time comes your body will take over and you just will be! I never had a freak-out moment once labor started where I was like "I'm not ready!" I just followed my body's lead and soon enough I was holding Gem. THAT was when the "OMG!" moments started to hit but by the time I left the hospital I felt okay about things again. You'll see that it just works out!

Yay for bonding!!

I'm feeling a bit freaked, too. Seeing my ticker on the last box for the first time was a pretty big trip!

Chelle - If it makes you feel any better, we're in the same DDC, and I am NOT ready
