I had to drop Gem off with my mom for the weekend tonight and it was my mom's birthday so I asked if she wanted to go to dinner and then wedding dress shopping with me. She agreed so we met after work and went to the mall. Dinner was nice and then we started shopping. The first store we looked in I saw NOTHING but Gem fell in love with a pink dress so she got it for her 'flower princess' dress. Gem really wanted to play on the playground so I sent her and my mom off to play while I dress hunted. The next store I stopped in I found a dress I really like and could afford. I tried it on and there's enough room that I can still wear it if we don't get married for another month. So I went ahead and bought the dress, shoes and jewelry. Before I tell the rest of the story here's pics!
Me and Gem:
Gem's dress:
Since my mom's camera stinks, here's what it actually looks like:

My shoes:
Anyway, I met up with my mom and Gem and we went and looked at wedding bands for Shane. I picked one I really like but I'm going to take him to the store Sunday to try it on. After that we went back to my mom's and Gem and I modeled the dresses for her. She took all the pics for me to show you girls and then I put everything away. I told her I was really glad I'm not as big this time as I was with Gem. She gave me the 'you're crazy' look that I've come to know so well. So I was like,"What? You think I'm bigger?" She was like, "Yeah. You're a lot bigger." I was like, "But I don't think I look pregnant at all, especially in a fluffy dress." She gave me the crazy look one more time and said, "I sent you the pics. Go home and look at them." UGH! I looked in a MIRROR! And it's not like people are asking me when I'm due or rubbing my belly so I REALLY don't think I'm THAT big! Thanks for making me paranoid about my wedding dress mom! If you made it this far, thanks! I have 14 days to return the dress if I really do look big in it! Thanks girls!

Aw Sarah the dress is beautiful! As long as you feel beautiful in it that's all that matters. Disregard any silly negative comments.

I already HAVE it! That's what makes me so mad! I have 14 days to return it but now I'm really questioning my own self-mage? Am I really that self-confident that I can't see I've turned into preggo-saurous-rex? Or is my mom just being a witch? I know I'm A LOT thicker in the middle than I was 4.5 months ago but I am almost half-baked now! I just don't think I look fat or pregnant, only thicker through the middle. Am I nuts? You're not going to hurt my feelings if you say yes. I just need to know if I'm going to regret wearing this dress for my wedding day. I LOVE the dress but does it work on my preggo body? Thanks girls!

I think the dress is beautiful and you look beautiful in it! (maybe SMILE the next time you're photographed in it though! haha) I will say that compared to your normal non-pregnant size you look a bit 'thicker' but not by any means fat or pregnant! Your mom is being way too critical! I know it sucks because we all want our moms to tear up when we find 'THE' dress. How do you feel in it? I think that just because you're pregnant or don't have time to special order anything doesn't mean that you should 'settle' on your gown. Personally, I love the dress you chose... I think the front bodice part of it is really pretty. But if you are unsure, or your mom's opinion of you in it is important to you... spend the next 14 days looking some more! Trying on a bunch of wedding gown is FUN so do it while ya can! If every dress you try on after this you're comparing to this one - you'll know this was the right choice for you! But seriously... you don't look fat, you look great... all that's missing is a smile and a groom!
and I think Gemma looks stinkin ADORABLE in hers! It's way cute!

I think if you like it then you keep it! I ignore people when they say they dont like something i do. I think you look fine in it. Maybe she doesn't like the ruffles and thats why she think's it makes you look bigger. I think it's fine. Gem looks so big everytime i see her pic, I think she grow's over night! And you are NOT fat! You are nothing but baby bump you crazy girl!

I think you look lovely in that dress. I dont think you look fat at all. In the 1st pic I think you can tell your pregnant but I dont think thats a bad thing! - Show that baby bump with pride!
Like i said, you look fantastic, but if you want to try and find another dress makes sure its because you want too not because your mum saying you look a litle thicker when your nearly 20 weeks prego!
Gem looks fantastic BTW

You look BEAUTIFUL in that dress!!! You do not look pregnant at all!!! Seriously your mom must be super tiny or something to think you look big!!! You don't even look like you ate a big dinner or anything!!! Keep the dress!!! And Gem is just as beautiful as her mommy!

I cannot believe you're 17 weeks pregnant! You don't look it at all! I think you look beautiful. I'm sorry your mom said that to you, that wasn't very nice at all...

The dress is gorgeous and you look very beautiful in it. You most definitely do NOT look fat and you do not look like you're 17 weeks pregnant either. The dress works great with you.
Gem is really pretty in her dress too.

The dress is beautiful! And I think you look great! Don't let your mom get in your head like that, of course you are going to be a little thicker in the waist but I still think you are a teeny tiny preggo. If she is saying that about you I would hate to hear what she would have had to say about me when I was 17 weeks along!
But I agree with Shannon, it was missing a smile!

I don't think you look pregnant at all in that dress - you chose a great cut to "hide" (which I know isn't really your intentions) any kind of a bump and one that will give you more room to grow. I think you look beautiful, I love the gathering at the bottom!!
One tip though with a dress like that - make sure the gathers are reinforced really well. My wedding dress had gathering at the bottom half and just when I was getting it fitted, one of the gathers fell out - that is a LOT of weight on something that might be just a few stitches. So I reinforced them and everything was good to go!

Thanks ladies! I am going to ask Shane's opinion when he gets up and if he's okay with the dress then it stays! It's not my 'perfect' dress but I don't think I would look all that great in my idea of perfection at this point. I think the dress does hide my bump which is fine because I don't want everyone who sees my wedding pics to go, "Oh shot-gun wedding huh?" Plus it shows off my new 'assets' up top which Shane is utterly in love with so I don't mind having my new D cups forever memorialized for him. Lastly, I paid $220 for the dress, shoes and jewelry. I can't beat that! The dress I liked at Davids Bridal was $280 alone! And there's no guarantee it would fit me as well plus we'd have to push the wedding back because we'd have to order it. So as long as Shane doesn't think I look awful I'm keeping the dress!
Oh, and I didn't smile because I was upset that it was 10PM and I was getting into my dress for the third time in 3 hours and taking new pics all because my mom can't just smile and nod! I will be happy when it's our big day and Shane is by my side!

I think the dress is pretty and you look great in it ignore your mom. I think that was an incredibly rude thing to say.
