Shannon's grandparents post got me thinking. My nephew Nicholas is 14 months old and also calls me Mom. We just realized last week that when he's trying to get my attention {we were playing by ourselves away from my sister} and he kept saying "Mom" "Mama" when he wanted to show me something.

Do you think it could be because he can't say Aunt Micky {what the other 2 call me} or Aunt Michelle and the "M" thing just translates to what he CAN say? If you ask him where Aunt Mick is, he will look right right at me and walk on over.

I have just been thinking it's sort of weird. I mean, he knows who his Mom is and he knows who Aunt Micky is, but he calls me Mom just the same!

Well I know with Curtis his speech has always been a little off although we are seeing improvements. I think kids do say things thinking other things, if that makes sense! He also may look at you as a mom figure at times, or even just get confused in the moment.

One thing that I would suggest is correcting him. I think it's a special title for his mom and even though he doesn't mean anything by it, it can hurt a mom when someone else is called mom by your own kid (I know for me it does). If you say "Sure, Aunty Micky will get it for you" or whatever, this will help him to get the correct term in to his little head!

he's still so young Dustin still screaming and babbling so it just comes with time to get the right term for the right thing! Just keep on reminding him!

Oliver calls men Daddy and he called a lady on TV the other day Mama.. I think that to them men are daddy's and women are mama's. Totally normal.

Taylor did the same thing at that age, I'd say it's normal

Its normal when they learn mama and dada that although they may know who their real mother or father is, they call all grown up women mama and all grown up men daddy. Until they get to that stage where they can actually say auntie X or uncle Y.

I think ti's normal. When they eventually learn to call other names I think they will. Just always keep reminding him who's who, though most of the time I think they know, it's just they don't know how to call you a different name yet.
