So Henry sleeps great most nights, at least 10 hrs which I'm very grateful about. But I STILL can't get him to nap well.

Almost always, he won't nap in his crib. We have this rocker/bouncy seat that he loves to nap in instead. I feel bad complaining because some babies won't nap/sleep at night at all. But when he falls asleep in the rocker, I have to stay nearby and can't get much done. He also doesn't sleep as long, maybe 45 minutes tops.

He gets sleepy mid morning and mid afternoon. When I try to put him down, he cries the second we enter his room! It's like he feels if he's in his crib, that's for the "long" sleep, KWIM? I've tried a controlled CIO (going in every 3- 5 minutes like we sometimes do at night) but it doesn't work. He cries so hard, it overstimulates him and he won't nap at all. I've also tried putting in a few soft toys so he can at least rest for awhile and get use to the crib during the day, but he won't buy into it.

It's my own fault, I let him get use to the rocking motion. But I need some advice to get him to nap in the crib and not be so "fearful" of it.

I hear that sometimes babies do better when they nap some where different then their crib. Do you have a pack and play that you could try maybe?

Do you not want him to nap in the bouncy chair? Have you tried moving him once he's a sleep??

I'm not much help. Curtis slept great at night and nap time... Dustin is awful on both. Ugh.

I had the same problem with Edward and I never got him to nap in his crib until he was almost 2! But, have you tried putting the rocker in his crib and then putting him in the rocker and putting him to sleep that way? That worked for us a little bit...I'm really bad at this kind of advice because Preston is almost two and I have to pat his back until he falls asleep.....every day at naptime and every night at bed time! I'm sorry hun! I hope he sleeps long at naptime soon!

Liam was an awful napper. He wouldn't nap in his crib til he was probably 15 months old, before that it had to be on me. I don't remember doing anything different really it was just one day he would allow it. Until then I let him nap wherever he wanted just so he could get some sleep and I could get a bit of a break!

Ya Dustin is the same as Liam. He naps perfectly on me but it's not ideal for other people involved haha. He's starting to nap more in his crib, but I put him to sleep on me first and then transfer him, as I do at night.

I do have the pack n play set up all the time in his play area downstairs. Sometimes I put him in there, play some light jazz music, and he goes to sleep after like an hr or 2.

And no I don't want him to nap in the chair, mostly because I can't leave him alone. Even strapped in, I've watched him wiggle out of it. It's alittle of the floor so he *could* hurt himself. And it's hard to move him once he's asleep cause he's strapped in.

That would make me very nervous to put the rocker in the crib. Like I stated quoting Steph, it's high up and he could easily fall out of the crib if he tried hard enough.

I have no advice. Jack is an ok napper (for now) all just from sheer luck. And he is younger so who knows how he will be at Henry's age. I wonder though if he just doesn't want to miss the action and that's why he won't nap, rather then he is fearful. If that's the case, I still don't have any advice. Maybe let him "read" a book in his crib?

Well I usually let Rylie have a bottle before nap time and I put Rylie in her crib. If she cries, I go in and check on her and if she's ok I leave for another 15 mins (only if I know she's REALLY tired). I usually don't have this problem though, she's a sleepy baby. Taylor was tough to get to sleep and still is! I did the same scenario with her as I do Rylie.
