So Nolan is an amazing nurser. We were having issues when my milk came in because I got SUPER engorged and he had a hard time latching....the nipple shield is a godsend right now but of course I would leak milk and it would slip off when his hands were thrashing around because he was mad, etc. I was starting to lose confidence and everything....
But then yesterday I was FINALLY able to hear and see my letdown/hindmilk start flowing by his reaction and the noises he was making. It started making me feel SO much better....and now that my boobs are starting to get less engorged, I can feel when they are full and how they get softer as he nurses, but I still was a little worried we were doing things "right". He poops and pees like a champ, so that should be enough reassurance you would think, right?? Ha.
Today we had his first pedi visit....and he got weighed...and has gained THREE OUNCES in two days!!!!!!!!!! I'm just so proud of my little pooper. It seriously makes getting up at 11....2....4....7... last night/this morning worth it. I feel like I am really succeeding at this mommy thing!!!! I just had to brag a little. There is no better satisfaction that having him nurse for so long and then pop off when he is done and he leans wayyyy back and relaxes with milk dribbling out of his mouth. I love it!!!!

Woo hoo! WTG mommy!
I would've bragged too if I were in your situation. Xander has always been a not-so-good nurser, but we're still muddling through! lol.

He is SO alert!!!! Sometimes he will nurse and nurse and nurse and pass out a little and then it's like he power napped and just wants to hang out and look around!! It seems to be the first feed of the "morning" - like around 7 am and then the last feed of the "evening" around 8 or 9. He just sits there and makes the most hilarious faces at me. I love when he goes cross eyed.
The only thing I'm not 100% sure of is how soft my boobs are supposed to get when he is done nursing. Since I'm still engorged a little, I am massaging them while he nurses to try and keep from getting anything clogged and sometimes half will feel really soft and the other half will feel harder. Maybe when things level out I will have it all completely figured out. And we can go back to nursing without the nipple shield most of the time....that thing is so annoying!!

Sounds like it's going perfectly and you are both becoming pros at it. It took a couple months for mine to stop feeling hard all the time and the leaking to die down. After a couple months your supply should start to even out.

ITA with Anna- brag away. Good job Momma! It's the best seeing that sweet little milk dribble on their chin! I'm glad BF is coming together for you and Nolan.

Sounds like things are going great! It took me about 2 weeks before it felt like my baby was getting all the milk out of my breast making it soft all over. If you have to go back to work and plan on pumping, now is a good time to start. Take advantage of that oversupply before it evens out.
