I LOVE my Panasonic Lumix (10x zoom, 10 MP and VIDEO!) Its my P&S of choice....only problem is my child just ATE it! LOL I'm actually shopping for another one now....this time one that can be in water. I had a cover for the Panasonic but it was one more thing to travel with.
Canon Xsi is my DSLR! But I agree-to big for everyday use.

I use a Nikon dslr which are known to be awesome. I prefer its color rendering to Canon, until you get to the very tippy top of the canon dslrs (personal preference), although both are the brands of choice for dslrs. Not sure about p&s since I am in the market for a little camera too. I have heard good things about sony p&s. I have an old Fuji p@s that was really great. But it looks like you made up your mind already so I won't bother with names, lol
