On my local news there is constantly reports of toddlers wondering the streets because they some how got out of their home. Does your local news have the same kind of reports often? Every time I hear it I feel so sad for the child. It's hard for me to understand how this can happen.

uh, no that never happens here. Shootings, yes, but wandering children no. Maybe it is b/c the kids don't have backyards to wander in so they try to escape? lol

oh my gosh that's horrible! No reports like that here. But I have heard of it happening in different areas. I can't even imagine!

It happens in the low income / not so good areas. Not in the burbs where I live but in the city. It seems like it's bi-weekly. 1,2,3,4 year olds.

that is crazy. Maybe the parents are on drugs, or leaving the kids alone or with untrustworthy people. That is really sad

It sure looks like it when it shows them or their family on the news. One case said drugs were found in the home. Poor babies.

My family was on the way to my nephews baptism early one Sunday morning and we FOUND a toddler wandering down the train tracks (non operational train tracks thank god). the little baby had his shoes on the wrong feet and no jacket on (it was a bit chilly it was so early). we were just driving along and i was like OMG THERES A BABY RIGHT THERE ALONE! so we stopped and my mom grabbed him and we called the police. they came and knocked on doors in the area and it turns out he was being watched by someone nearby who didnt know to baby proof and he had woken up and decided to go out by himself. he was like 2 maybe, couldnt talk or anything......i guess it can happen to ppl if they arent paying attention. this was in a good neighbourhood in a very small town.

Yeah, my city isn't really very urban. But we had a rash of attempted kidnapping early this year. Just awful. They caught 2 of the guys, but not the third. This world is so scary and awful sometimes. I would be tempted to keep any neglected kiddos if I found them. I know you can't, but it isn't fair innocent children have piece of crap parents.

Not here. Unfortunately the stories we hear most are children falling into swimming pools or out of 2nd story windows

my mom kept my cousin after she realized she was being severly neglected. her parents tried to get he back (so they could get more money from welfare) but my mom actually won custody in court based on how badly she was being neglected. the sad part is they still have two other children, and god knows how they treat them....

DH and I were in our front yard this weekend and our neighbor was throwing a baby shower. Well at one point some 2-year old (or so) child was walking down the sidewalk all the way to the stop sign (we are on a corner lot). Then he proceeded to walk out into the street. We told him to get out of the street and told him to go get his mom and dad, but he didn't quite understand. He got in the street again, so I took him to our neighbors and explained what happened. The woman (not my neighbor) who answered the door just laughed it off. I was soooooo livid. DH had to finally tell me to calm down and that it's not our problem. How is it funny that there was a 2-year old outside by himself and wondering into the street? A street where people think they are on a 1/4 drag strip? Oh I was soooooooooo mad, so so mad! I even walked back to our yard and loudly said (their windows were open) 'They just laughed about it...how is that f***ing funny!?' (I don't cuss a lot, but that just set me off).

Yeah we get that a lot on the news here too.

It actually happened to me when I was about 18 months old. My Mom worked part time at a department store and I didn't take it well. My Dad went to the bathroom for a few minutes and left me and my 3 year old brother watching cartoons. By the time he came back down I had pulled a chair to the door, unlocked it, and was wandering the streets calling out "Gimbles" (where my Mom worked). My Dad was a wreck and my Mom quit that day even though they needed the money.

The kids in this building often play out in the "courtyard" area unsupervised. Its a car -loop and I can't believe thats okay with the parents. The ages range from what looks like three to six or seven.

We hardly have reports of that here but if you venture into the countryside, you may see some young children wandering around in villages. I don't think they stray too far from home and luckily most villages here are pretty close knit so someone would look out for the children but nonetheless it's scary.

Every once in a while we do. When I was little I remember my mom finding a little boy wandering in the street in front of our house. She had to call the cops because she couldn't find his mom and he was only 2 so he didn't know where he lived.

There isn't much of toddlers wandering the streets, but we hear alot about parents backing over their toddlers when leaving the drive way. I'm so paranoid over my kids being outside without me that I hardly ever go out unless I have an extra pair of eyes and hands!
