Jack is moving on up. His infant seat was in the middle, with the mirror so I could see him on the middle headrest. Now the convertible car seat is much bigger, and if it is on the middle seat, we cannot see him using the mirror on the headrest. Should I go without a mirror, or move him to one of the passenger seats in the back? What do you do?

We have it in the passenger seat because it didn't fit in the middle. Its behind the front passenger seat (does that make sense, my mind is all foggy). Oh and I love my mirror, I *need* to see if shes ok back there.

yeah that makes sense. My vote is for the middle, Dustin's is for the seat behind the driver. Is there one seat better then the other?

I would go without the mirror. We didn't bother with an infant carrier and so we've been using a convertible from the get-go. We don't have a mirror because it's a projectile hazard in a crash and considered unsafe. The safest spot is in the middle seat which is where ours is... so I think your safest bet would be to do that without a mirror.

Seamus rode in the middle till he was almost 2yrs old even in his convertible.
Because we have two they are each behind drivers, and passengers, can't be in the middle or Seamus messes with/hurts Kieran.

Ah, ok. I was thinking middle is safest if you have only one child and can fit it there.
I was thinking the other day I should have got a minivan when I had the chance. Someone here did that, but I can't remember who. At the time I was all, Im not a minivan mom. Now though the idea is very appealing so that when you add more kids you don't have to worry about fitting people.

I remember reading up on side vs side when I was pregnant and I think they're both equally safe. I wasn't sure if the seat would fit in my middle spot so I was trying to decide which I'd do. The passenger seat is nice b/c you can reach better if you need to hand them a pacifer or something (not that LIly will use the darn thing, haha) but behind you is nice b/c you get in/out on the same side of the car. lol. that was my thinking anyway.

I would keep him in the middle. Curtis stayed in the middle till he was 2 and needed to move due to Dustin coming along. Now Dustin is behind the driver and Curtis is behind the passenger, baby boo will be in the middle unless we buy a van before then. Hopefully we'll buy one shortly after baby is here.

We're in the process of finding a minivan since we can't even fit 3 carseats in our SUV. We can't go out anywhere as a family until we do. Should have gotten one long ago since we knew we'd have at least 3 kids.

Now that Rylie's 1 tomorrow (can't believe it!) they're both forward facing and Rylie's behind the driver seat and Taylor's behind the passenger seat. Once the new baby is here we'll move whoever is more gentle with the baby into the middle and the baby will take over one of the side seats

Oliver is in the middle. I never bothered with the mirror. It never worked well.
Shannon, How do you like your carseat? I know you have the same one as us.

Our True Fit wouldn't fit in the middle. So we have it behind the passenger seat and I sit in back with him. Once it doesn't need to recline so far, it should fit in the middle and we can move it there so he is safer.

I always put the younger ones on the passenger sides so I can reach them!! Now that I have captain chairs in the van, instead of bench seatings, Morgan cant reach over very well to help out like I was hoping she would be But thankfully Ive tested the baby crying while driving in the van LOL

Amara's seat is in the back passenger seat. The seat I have does not work well in the middle.

I've got Matthew in teh middle and I am still able to use hte mirror, just had to position it differently. Dh wanted to put Matthew on the passenger side to make it easier to get him in and out but I really prefer middle. For one reason, the safety. For another, I was in the passenger seat the other day with Matthew behind me (Dh had moved the seat) and I had not enough leg room. I have a Honda Civic so not a ton of room. I wish I had a minivan and I feel like I will need one when we add another child but Dh wants to get a truck. We bought the Civic before I got preggy.

Be sure to check your car's manual. Many cars say to only install them on the sides. I know our car does (Honda) and my dad's car is the same (Nissan). Might be worth checking. We have his infant seat behind the passenger seat, with no mirror.

We have our infant seat behind the passenger seat in my car and the convertible (rear facing) behind the passenger seat in DH's car. We tried them both in the middle first but they did not install correctly there.

He is in the middle seat. And the mirror to watch him is on the passenger head rest behind me. We have one that swivels so I can see him., Munchkin brand I think.
