Has anyone ever had complex ovarian cysts? with 'debris' in them?
What does this even mean....i never could get a straight answer out of a doctor abut it and i couldnt find anything online either. I get them really frequently apparently, but they come and go quickly. like alternating months i get a huge one on one of my ovaries and then the next month the giant cyst appears on the other ovary. They are generally like 3 cm in diameter... i wouldnt know this if it wasnt for all the u/s's i had in the last little while....to me complex ovarian cyst just sounds bad..

I think I had one or more than one years ago. I was having a lot of pain and had tests done and that is what was found. I wasn't told much either. They went away on there own and I haven't had the pain since.

I have cysts, multiple ones on both (go away w/ pregnancy) but never told anything about debris, so I'm no help there.
Hope someone knows.

I had terrible ovarian cysts when I had the Mirena IUD. I would get two or three cysts on whichever ovary ovulated that month and most of the time they ruptured.
A complex ovarian cysts means that it is composed of both tissue and blood as opposed to a regular cyst which is generally just filled with blood. Complex cysts are more concerning because they will weigh a bit more and can lead to torsion, which is when the ovary begins to droop and turn from the weight of the cyst and causes the fallopian to twist and sometimes die from loss of blood supply. Most cysts will resolve on their own but can sometimes rupture which leads to blood in your abdominal cavity and is very painful.
Sometimes a warm compress or a hot bath can help with the pain but most of the time I'd have to end up popping two Vicodin a couple of times a day to help ease the pain.

Do you still have your IUD in? They are known for causing and worsening cysts.

No I had Paragard after Kieran(Mirena after Seamus but I was told my cysts were gone the whole time but I dont believe it, and I'm pretty sure they are back now from the pain I have) but had some complications with it and it was removed in December. I've had cyst problems since I was 15 (and AF issues since then too).
I had one rupture in July 2005 (around the same time we got pregnant with our m/c) and it was so horridly painful, I was at work when it happened and crawled under my desk and cried till my boss found me and sent me (and dh)home, it sucked.

EW! blood AND tissue!? grossssssssss. thanks for the info though kate, i had no idea that was the case.
i did have a cyst that was painful once, it burst and then was gone though so i never thought much more of it. is there anything you can do to reduce the number of cysts that you get? i'm super regular as far as my cycles go and always have been....so they don't affect fertility? also, what the heck even IS a cyst?! like why on earth does that even happen? is it like a follicle that doesnt form right or soemthing? and why are they so freaking big, i remember the one cyst was like way bigger than the gestational sac that i had before.....wierd.
i'm not on any type of hormonal bc, but i was for like 10 yrs......i wonder if that contributed....

I get cysts too. Funnily enough, the one sustaining this pregnancy is complex. It's 3cm and slowly bleeding into itself... LOVELY!

omg that is just delightful alice......not! do they just keep an eye on it at this point? here's hoping that as the baby takes up more bloodflow, less gets to your cyst and it shrivels up and goes away.
i know i had a huge one just before my last AF so hopefully that hormonal shift got rid of it......

the docs aren't concerned. The cyst is supposed to fizzle out soon anyways as the placenta takes over.

I used to get them ALL the flippen time. They SUCK. I get the ones that rupture and have me on my A@s for a day or two and several times in the ER for REAL drugs and couple surgeries to suck them out.
The only thing I'm aware of that decreases the changes is Birth control with high levels of hormones (not something you want during TTC). I had a couple during my pregnancy, my growing uterus smashed them and they were gone by my last u/s.
