I'd appreciate if no one mentioned this on facebook. We are trying to keep it on the down low until we have had time to process it. I'm sure some of you remember my little brother has been fighting cancer for many many years. He got a bone marrow transplant in December of 2008 and we thought everything was going well. He was hospitalized for an infection and yesterday we found out that his transplant rejected his body. It didn't work. We will find out more on Monday but they basically said there is a good possibility that they won't be able to do anything for him. He's only 18 years old and just 6 weeks away from his high school graduation. This is my baby brother and my very best friend. I have never loved anyone as much as I love that kid. I would walk in front of a bus for him and I would trade places with him in a second. I just don't know what to do

Oh Rachel! I'm so sorry to hear this... what devastating news! I hate that they told you just this bad stuff and you have to wait until Monday to know more. There is always always hope though. Hang in there.

If you dont mind me asking, what happens when the transplant rejects his body? Excuse my ignorance on transplants.
I'm so sorry that you all are going through this. Hopefully there are other alternatives out there to assist. There has to be.

oh rachel i'm so sorry sweetie *hugs*
i'm praying for your brother and sending lots of healing vibes his way. i agree with shannon, there is always hope. i've learned just lately that doctors tend to give you the worst possible news first so that any improvement looks good on them....so even when they tell u the worst there IS always hope, the human body is an amazing thing.

I hope there is SOMETHING they can do! 18 is just too young to be dealing with all of this! I can't fathom what you and your family are going through right now. If you need anything you have my number! (((HUGS)))

I'm so sorry Rachel! I'll be keeping your brother, you and your family in my thoughts. My sister had cancer when she was 15 (brain tumor), I know how difficult it is.

Thanks girls. We are trying to stay positive but the idea that we might just be sitting around waiting for him to die is terrifying. He's had leukemia for 10 years, finally got his life back together and now he's sick again.

How heartbreaking. My grandmother was diagnosed with lung/brain cancer shortly after I became pregnant. I remember feeling so depressed and happy at the same time. It's not the exact same situation, but I'm sure being pregnant is feeling confusing, KWIM? Please keep us posted!

Oh Rachel! I'm so sorry, this has got to be incredibly difficult for your whole family. I sure hope his condition turns around or the doctors are able to do something.
