Thought i would start this in a new thread separate from my bummer m/c thread.
I picked up some B6 and from what i can tell from a brief google session i need to take 200mg a day all month, does anyone have any other suggestions for that? also is there any particular progesterone cream to get? to be honest i dont even know if they sell it OTC in canada, but either way i can go to the states and get it if need be. I figure i should do what i can to avoid another m/c, since we have to ttc at least one more time before further testing gets done, so i'm just figuring this out now and if i did this much at least i'll know that more needs to be done if it results in another m/c.

I have always had a LP of around 10/11 days, with the occassional shorter or longer LP. I took 50mg of B6 for a while before we TTC last time and have just started taking it again over the last two months. I was taking 100mg but someone on here said it could be bad in high doses?
No idea with the progesterone...? Maybe just ask your doctor about it. Do you have another appointment set up yet?

You want a cream that has at least 600mg of progesterone per ounce, you'll get about 30mg of progesterone per application. I know GNC carries a progesterone cream with that dosage but I'm not sure if they ship to Canada.
I would definitely ask your doctor's opinion, he may have some other suggestions.

tash we're so the same, my LP is 10-11 days usually too. hmm i checked my prenatal and theres 50 mg B6 in those so maybe 200 is a bit high to be taking along with that. i wonder if anyone knows more about this B6 thing, i feel like sara b might know?
thanks for the info kate, and we have GNC here so i will see if they have it! did you use it? did it work for you if you did?
and i dunno, i dont want to tell my doctor about this. he got this wierd smug little smile on his face when i started talking knowledgeably about my body, luteal phase etc which really turned me off of wanting to confide in him about this stuff. also i feel like he thinks i'm a hypochondriac, and that he doesnt take this seriously because i'm only 27. he must have told me a hundred times that i'm so young and blah blah blah. i dont care how young i am, i've been pregnant twice in my life both of which have ended in m/c, thats not a very good track record and i want to prevent it from happening again. honestly i dont know how much more of this i can take emotionally, its really draining to miscarry. i just dont think he understands how bad it really is to me because to him it seems like no big whoop.
i'm going to get these test results back from him and go from there, who knows maybe something is wrong with my thyroid or soemthing, so we'll find that out along with progesterone and a whole bunch of other stuff from the tests i'm getting tomorrow. based on those results i'll go to the OB to get clomid or whatever if i miscarry again.....

I know miscarriages are common - even my doctor told me not to get to excited when I went to him to confirm my pregnancy, because 1 in 4 pregnancies end in m/c... But hearing that from your doctor isn't going to make it any easier. Being told by your doctor you are so young isn't going to make it any easier. Any m/c is going to be tramatic, at any age and your doctor should understand that and listen to your concerns.
I would be looking for another doctor if I was you. Maybe a female one? At least someone who will at least listen to you about your concerns, because you are going to know your body better than they are...
I did post about B6 and Evening Primrose oil a few weeks ago... I'll try to find the post for you...

I got my bfp the first cycle that i took 200mg of B6 so i don't think it can hurt. Though i did read a book that said b6 can make things worse unless you are taking a complete b-complex vitamin. I took both.
As for the progesterone cream, i've only heard horror stories. Remember Lauren (Lash)? She used progesterone cream OTC and said it just made her crazy. She said it was completely different from the stuff you get from your doctor. I've only used progesterone after getting a bfp, so i'm no help.

I never used it for TTC. When I was having my miscarriages in 2005, I didn't know jack about this kind of stuff and then when we were trying for Violet my LP was 14 days. I have since used it for PMS purposes and I really like it, it helps calm my crazy mood swings.

I don't know if I ever had a problem per say..since I never charted consistently. But I did have a couple cycles with 8-10 day luteal phase, which prompted me to take b6. I took 100 mg once a day plus whatever was in my prenatal. It seemed to help. I continued to take it until I was around 13-14 weeks pregnant.

I have no answers for the specific questions you asked, but have you thought about changing docs? Or can you do that in Canada? It really sucks that he is treating you like a child, he shouldn't be doing that. And 27 is above the average age to have your first kid (in the U.S. anyway)! I wonder if he just thinks you are cute and that is his weird way of flirting with you (we all know you are gorgeous ). I'm sorry, that was a weird thing to say about your OB...
And I thought 10-11 days was still within the "normal" range for an LP? I thought under 10 days is when it starts effecting your fertility, but I could be wrong.

I took A B-vitamin complex and soy isoflavones the cycle before and the cycle this LO was conceived. My chart is in my siggy (not sure if you can see the link though because it's at the bottom and might be cut off) so you can see that I was not 100% about taking everything everyday but it did something. I got my IUD out in summer 2007 and never even had an evap until I got this BFP. I totally believe the B vitamins and soy were my miracle makers. I would have gotten progesterone cream if I had known that I could get it over the counter too! Good luck Sarah!

12 days or over is considered 'normal'. Anything under 10 days is a concern. 10/11 days is 'borderline' and it really depends on the women ie Sarah could m/c because her LP is to short, but I could be fine with the same length LP.

i did switch doctors...to this guy. it's not canada in general, but the city i live in its reallllllly hard to get a good doctor. my doctor before this guy was a hundred times worse. and while he is a younger relatively good looking guy, he did a during m/c exam on me down there so i REALLY DOUBT he's flirting with me at this point LOL this guy is my GP, my OB is even worse than this guy from what i can tell, he just wants you in and out in like 3 seconds.

i'd love to see your post on EPO & B6 hun...i'll take a look for it too. i think i am stuck with these doctors, i just gotta be as informed as i can be before i go in to see these people, and ignore their opinions on 'how young' i am. i swear it doesnt help that i'm one of those ppl who is 'cute', if i looked older or even my age i bet he wouldnt be saying those things.

I'm honestly curious, how did you know the cyst was directly related to the soy isoflavones??

My DR said no more than 100mg B6.
Also, he said OTC progesterone cream is useless if you really need it, he said it's not enough. I would talk to your DR about suppositories or injections.

I think I was taking like 100mcg or 150mcg (DH threw away everything when I got pregnant) of soy. I took the B vitamin complex on top of my regular multivitamin which did have some B vitamins but not a ton of each.

I've heard that progesterone cream is completely useless. My Dr is prescribing progesterone suppositories for me this cycle.

you can get B6 100mg (I took 2 a day, sometimes 3) at target for like $5 or 6. Not sure about the progesterone cream? I know it enhances your sex drive not pregnant...a few of my friends tried it out LOL
