Kieran had her 1yr check today and got 3 shots (Hep b, Hep a and chicken pox vac).
She's still my tiny baby, shes 18lbs 9oz which is the 12%, and 28" which is the 20% (head 46cm at the 75%). She dropped alittle on the growth curve a couple months back but is now on her own curve again so the doc isn't worried since she's gaining at the same curve, and shes basically been on the 20% height curve since she was born.

They also did a lead test and hemoglobin test. Her lead came back fine which is good since we live in a house built in the 70's. But her iron was low, they want it above 11.6 and she was 9.6(they drew twice to check cause the first came back at 9.9). They are putting her on iron supplements 1ml a day to try to raise them.

Now my question, I know Iron supplements can cause constipation in adults, will this constipate her? (I don't think its a large dose so I'm not sure)

Glad she is doing well and still on her curve.

I think the iron supps can constipate babies (something in my PR said that I think? so i dunno) maybe just make sure she gets lots of water and the laxative type fruits (plum, peaches) and oatmeal.

glad she's doing well! i hope the iron doesnt constipate her, i've heard it can do that, when i take iron it doesnt constipate me at all though so maybe she'll be fine since she needs it so much.

glad she's doing so great! me and both of my sisters were 18 pounds at a year old too! I would assume iron for babies would constipate them just like it does in adults.

I guess we'll have to get some plums and see how she does eating them. I dont want her to have juice after the issues we've had with Seamus (doc had us start at 2mo because of his bad constipation issues, but the juice never helped him and he ended on meds) or maybe we'll just give her a tiny bit of Miralax and water if it gets bad.

Its so weird how different siblings are. Seamus was in the 18lb range from 4mo to 11mo and because he didn't gain any weight in that 7mo period our pedi put him on whole milk at 11mo, and from 11-12mo he went from 18lbs something to around 22lbs...and now hes 46lbs and getting very close to 4ft tall(hes not fat hes a monster most people think hes 5 till he talks and they hear how he says things). I was even 20something at 1 my mom said. Kieran's going to be smaller like my mom (mom's only 5'4" (well 5'3.5" but she likes 4" better ) and like 120lbs, and I'm over 3" taller then her and we all know I weight alot more )

glad the appointment went well other than the iron being low. Hopefully the iron supplement won't constipate her too bad.

Glad that her appt went well and that she had no lead in her. I hope that it doesnt constipate her but in the event that it does, I hope you have plenty of prune juice.

I'm so glad to hear she's growing well.. She's a little peanut..

And your right about how each child grows differently.. My little man is so much bigger then Adriana.. The Ped predicts A.J will pass Adriana up probably around his 1 year check up.. lol I don't mind it.. I'm just happy my little man isn't petite.. lol He needs to be tall not short.. lol

I'm glad her appointment went well. I would just keep her fiber, fruit intake and water up to prevent the possible constipation.

Sounds like she's doing great! I hope the iron doesn't cause her too much tummy discomfort. My boys are little peanuts too, they were both around that size at a year old and they're still like 5th percentile for weight and 20th percentile for height.
