I have 2-3 newborn sessions coming up in the next couple of months. I am not booking any newborn shoots for clients (they stress me out too much, I would rather refer them and do shoots that I enjoy) but I am doing them for friends and family. One little boy is due any day now, a little girl is due in a month, and my neice is due in a few weeks and I will be seeing her at the end of May.

I would really like to use some cute hats and diaper covers but I don't want to learn how to make them (I can only make a basic knifty knitter hat) and I don't want to pay $$$ for them since I will only use them for these few shoots and not for paying clients.

Do you know of anyone who would be interested in trading me a couple of hats/diaper covers in exchange for the pro photos that they could use on their site or Etsy? I could either pay a discounted amount or return them after I am done

This is the style I am looking for.

OMG these hats are so cute! They're not the style I usually knit though, but I can try and see if I can find patterns and similar yarn. I'll get back to you.

I wish I knew that I would have time to do this for you, I have a couple of patterns that are similar (crochet) but not identical. I've been working on the same baby hat for a shower gift that used to take me 2 hours to make for about 4 days now!!!

Hey Breanna- you have perfect timing! Eli's newborn photos were today, and I have two hats I can send you! One is blue/beige with the long tail thing, and the other is brown with the teddy bear ears. I also have a brown cocoon wrap that goes with the brown hat.

However, Eli felt the need to poop in the cocoon wrap- anyone know how to wash knit stuff? Just regular detergent in the sink? LIne dry? I've never had knit stuff, so I have no clue how to wash it.

I will be more than happy to mail you the stuff to borrow for your photos.

to wash i'd say use some zero in cold water and soak for a bit and rub gently to get rid of obvious dirt, rinse in cold water, roll in a towel to get out excess water and lay flat to dry. thats how my mom taught me to wash my woolies.

wash them with wool wash if you have it, cold water, line dry. Or if you don't have wool wash--conditioner works in a pinch!
