Normally Id be THRILLED - but this time, theres a twist to it unfortunately. This last time I went in to check up on the placenta (which moved up away from the scar yay!!) also showed that my amniotic fluids are low. My midwife said that there are a number of things that can make it look low like being dehydrated, baby in a weird position, U/s tech didn't get a good angle, etc. She is a bit more worried seeing as I'm not huge like I should be (honestly its been awesome LOL) I ran into a lady today who was due 5 days after me and shes like 10X the size of me!! Not quite sure how you deal with low fluid on a homebirth - I would imagine bed rest till I deliver?? oh joy.... She has me on a strictly water only for fluids. No fake sugars (meaning no soda, I'm drinking my last one now ) No flavorings (like aquafina has raspberry flavor) I'm to drink half my body weight in liters of water a day - so thats about 120 liters!! GOOD GAWD. Her exact words were "if you don't think you can drink anymore...then flavor it with fruit or a tad bit of juice and just keep downing water" blah.....
Someone had this issue before?? They induced my sister at 38 weeks with her first due to low fluids - and since I'm a VBA2C theres no inducing me - just bed rest till I go on my own!!!

Okay, that is NOT healthy... (the amount of water not the fluid). Unless your fluids are super low and you are very dehydrated there isn't much to worry about. The next thing to worry about is if you're leaking. If you're not leaking fluid and you're not dehydrated then there's not much bedrest or ungodly amounts of water will do for you. And that much water could give you an electrolyte imbalance causing even worse problems. Take it easy and try to stay hydrated in a reasonable way! (((HUGS)))

That does sound like a lot of water. Did you know you can drown yourself by drinking too much water? It happened to someone before on the news here. I only like to drink water for the most part and can't ever get the recommened 8 glasses in per day. There is NO way I could drink that much!

I'm about 99% positive she means OUNCES. There's no way she means liters. People often hear to drink eight 8 ounce glasses of water per day - which would total 64 ounces. Weight watchers recommends you add 8 ounces for every 25 pounds you are overweight, or easier - just drink half your body weight in ounces. So I'm going to guess that's what you've been told as well. I drink at least that much everyday, but I'm crazy about getting my water in, especially while breastfeeding. After a few days of forcing yourself to drink the water you'll get used to it and your natural thirst will return. Just figure out what works for you... I like to chug my water, I'll often drink an entire 20 ounch or so water bottle in one 'tip back' -- and I prefer it not to be super cold b/c it hurts my teeth. GL!

Yeah..pretty sure that is ounces as well. I drink that and then some probably....nursing makes me THIRSTY and now that I am pumping some, watch out. I do what Shannon does and knock back about 32 oz (I re-use gatorade bottles, haha) pretty quickly. I'm pretty OCD about getting water in because I know how much is being used for making the noms.
You'll get used to drinking water.....it's amazing how much better you will start to feel once you knock out that sugary crap too! Water tastes soooo good to me now, haha.

Yes you can!!!! I swear by water as a cure all!!! I had a really bad sinus infection once and I promised Edward I'd take him to the zoo. But I didn't get any sleep the night before. Not wanting to disappoint him, I took him anyway while dead on my butt tired and sick as a dog with sinus infection....but while we were at the zoo, I drank 3 8 oz bottles of water and by the time we got home at about 4pm....I could breathe again and I didn't feel as crappy! If I don't get a good night's sleep, I drink a ton of water the next day and I never feel fatigued!!! So....I swear by water!!! But that much is too much!!! I would stick to what she said...but in ounces!!!! I'm sorry Bethy....I hope the water helps with your level of fluid!!!

After week 24 my belly didn't grow at all, they thought Alissa wasn't growing AND thought I had very low fluids so I was induced because of it. Well, when they broke my water there was LOADS of water and Alissa was a good size(Small but not like they thought). So even though I was very small(Belly hardly showed) there was a lot of water so I wouldn't worry too much over it. Of course do as they say like drinking water whenever you can(Not as much as they said though!) and rest up but don't stress over it, there's a good chance everything is more than ok.
I use to hate water also but now that's all I drink, after a while you get use to it and start to enjoy it, but only if you don't drink much flavored drinks as well at first.

Gotta agree with the kicking the coke and stuff.
Before joining WW I woke a coke addict.
Ive had it twice in 6 weeks as a treat, but I feel so much better for not drinking it ALL THE TIME.
I dont feel as bloated, have a lot more energy instead of sugar rushed induced energy.
Cant you add sugarfree squash to your juice? or does it litrally have to be 'just water'? If thats the case I prefer bottled water to water out of the tap, I find it tastes diffrent lol

120 litres is impossible, she must have meant ounces.
i loooooove water, i am always thirsty for it, so maybe once you kick the pops (yes i'm canadian hehe) like shan said your natural thirst will return. i find nothing tastes better than tap water thats been sitting out on the counter over night in a glass jug. that's how we 'filter' our water, we just let the chlorine and whatever evaporate out of it, def improves the flavour.

Yeah she HAD to of ment ounces but I swear to god I heard liters
Im drinking water with ice and lime in it...and I dont know what sugarfree squash is?? Must be a UK thing, Emma (I love googling your food you have there!! I might send your DH some captain crunch for christmas if hes a good boy hehehe...)
Im just super worried shes going to throw me on bed rest for the next 4 weeks, which I simply can not do with 2 preschoolers and hubby cant drive (to get himself out to the barn for chores) So, just chug the water and go in for the ultrasound!
Can a UTI with kidney pain make the water look low? Cuz I had one when I went in?

I dont think you need to drink that much water. Crystal light makes water taste that much better.

I carry around a 1 liter bottle of water with me all the time. I'm looking at it now, it says 1 liter = 33.8 fluid ounces. 120 liters = 4056 ounces... That's 507 8 oz glasses of water a day! 120 oz sounds much more reasonable, which is about 4 liters.
I drink about 2 liters a day, plus a bunch of milk and the water I get from fruits, veggies, and other food. 4 liters a day would be very difficult for me! But for some people 4 liters is easy to get in... hopefully you are one of those. Heck, just eliminating diuretics like coke should help.

I just read what Sarah posted and she is right. Once you get used to that kind of water intake, you want to drink that much and it becomes much easier. Sometimes I slack a little on my water intake on the weekends because I just forget, and I get sooooo thirsty for water!
