Today I was in Target and I had Lily in my beco. She was wearing this onesie:

So its very obviously blue, so I can see why one might see that and think 'boy' despite there being big flowers all over it. And to be honest, I realize with babies this age its hard to determine gender, so I'm not that offended if someone guesses wrong. But I didn't expect THIS to happen:

Target cashier: Aww, he's so cute, how old is he?

me: Aw, thanks! She's 3 months!

Target cashier then cocks her head to the side and replies: really? are you sure its a girl?

...

I swear to God. So I just replied "Well if her vagina is any indication..." and then stormed off.

Like seriously. Someone QUESTIONED me if my daughter was actually a girl. WHATHAFA!?

WTH!!!!!

Uhh does the BOW and the cute GIRLY face not give it away!?

I would have looked at the cashier and said "Thank you sir, have a nice day!"

She didn't have the bow, the picture was from liek a month ago just an example of what she was wearing... but yeah! you don't question the gender further after you've been corrected! c'mon!

and I totally should have called her 'sir'

as if. that onesie has flowers all over it first of all, but WHY would anyone say that?! if it were me i probably just would have been standing there all dumbfounded. ppl can be so stupid sometimes. you should have said 'oh wait a minute, let me just check." and then proceeded to change her poopy diaper right on the till.

What a dumb *****. Are you sure... how does that even make sense.

I know how you feel. EVERYONE THINKS MY SON IS A GIRL! He always is in VERY boyish clothes and shoes I just don't get it! That's why I got his hair cut in hopes people would stop calling him a girl. I don't want him to start understanding at some point and be sad people thinks he is girly

Everyone thought Gem was a boy until about a year or so. I just gave up on caring. It didn't matter when I got her ears pierced or put her in frilly pink dresses or anything.... People still called her 'he'.

I would have reported that cashier to the management though. Asking if you're sure your child is the gender you state is rediculously rude and stupid. Perhaps that cashier needs a new position as the dumpster cleaner or something where s/he can't interact with customers!
