This is nothing new, however, I assumed it would get better as she got older. No such luck so far.

She screams the minute I buckle her into her carseat until I get her out. There are rare moments when she is awake and content, but otherwise she is screaming or sleeping in it. She gets so upset she chokes on her own saliva and if she has been crying more than 5 minutes she will be completly soaked in sweat.

I've taken out the head cushion thinking maybe that irritated her, no luck. Sometimes listening to AM static works a bit, but it's hard to tell if it helps or if she is just having a 'good' day. Maybe she doesn't like being rear facing. I want her to be safe, but if this continues, girlfriend is getting flipped forward at 1 yr.

We have a 10 hr drive to Michigan in July and I am praying we can find something that will help her enjoy the car more by then. Or maybe I just need some Xanax for the drive

Same thing with the stroller. It is an expensive jog stroller that I LOVE. My mom and grandmother saved up and purchased it for me. I was really hoping I could use it to get back in shape with her. No such luck. We can't go more than a block without her getting hysterical and attracting nasty looks from neighbors. I thought maybe it was b/c she was in her car seat (it attaches to the stroller until they are big enough to sit in it). Yesterday I put her in it without the car seat. I was sure she would like it more since she was facing out now and now in that darn car seat. But the same screaming happened. Although, she isn't quite big enough to sit upright in it. She's reclined back and I put in she rolled blankets for support. Maybe since she is a tummy sleeper she doesnt like that position??

I've been carrying her everywhere in the Moby and Ktan (just got an Ergo yesterday). Those work great and she LOVES them, but I would still like to use the stroller eventually. I feel especially bad since it was a gift. My mom is always asking if I took her for a walk in it and when I tell her no, she doesn't tolerate it...my mom acts like it is b/c I've done something wrong...like I've spoiled her too much by putting her in carriers. Plus she makes me feel guilty by saying I've wasted her money, blah blah.

Wow, long rant. Question is do they ever grow out of this phase?? Or does 'growing out' happen when she can use a booster seat and walk

Any suggestions??

no suggestions, sorry your family is giving you greif about the carriers vs stroller

OH some thing you could do is her some rescue remedy for KIDS to her with the long car rides (its a homeopathic calmer---all natural safe stuff like chamomile and stuff). I use it for plane rides if london starts getting nervous.

I think she will grow out of it. Landen hated anything that was not my arms up until 5ish months. Ever since he has loved both car seat and stroller. He will even sit in the stroller at home to read his books in ! Don't worry it will get better !!!! Have you tried one of those toy bar things?

What is it called? I might try it. I have my first plane ride coming up and I don't want to give her benadryl.

I have some toys to hang from her car seat bar, they *sometimes* help, although I have to put the bar back when she's in the car. And when I have it up for when she's in the stroller it doesnt seem to help much. Do they make seperate toy bars for strollers? If so, I might try it.

I'm still waiting for Jaxon to get used to the carseat and stroller. But he hates carriers, as well. I think he just doesn't like being restrained.

If we drive a long ways, one of us rides in the back with him to keep him company. I get kind of car sick but on freeways it's okay. I have 3 different strollers and so far, the one he like best is the stroller frame that my carseat fits into. I think that is because he is facing me and on the others he is facing forward.

So yea, I don't really have any advice. I hope it goes okay. Eventually she will get tired and take a nap!

Dominic used to scream bloody murder when he went into the carseat. He would be inconsolable and just wail and cry the whole time. The only time he wouldn't protest is if he was really sleepy or cold. Once he would hit the winter air he would suddenly go quiet and I realized that he was kind of stunned into silence lol. (We had a Bundle Me on the carseat and would always have a hat and mittens on him so I know he wasn't actually shivering or anything, but he would react to the cold air on his face). It was never warm enough to take walks until recently so I don't know how he would've reacted to the stroller then. At about 4 months old he began to tolerate the carseat much better. That's about the time that we began to use the stroller as well and he has liked that just fine. I don't really know what changed, but my theories are that he either just got used to it, or became more observant and aware and began to be more captivated by what was going on around him/the toys hanging from the handle/etc.

Matthew used to hate the carseat. I don't remember when he grew out of that but eventually he did. Then when he got even older (like 10 months) he started hating it but that's after like 2 hours in it. I don't think he hated the stroller as an infant but he did hate it if it wasn't moving (still does).

Some babies are just more fussy, Matthew was one of them. But it will get better over time.

Oh and Matthew also hated his travel swing! I think the angle of it crunched his tummy, maybe he didn't like the way he had to be positioned in the carseat either. He had a lot of reflux/tummy sensitivities.

Rylie SCREAMED and HATED her car seat for a long time. She just had to outgrow it. She was around 4 or 5 months when she finally did. Hang in there mama!

This probably isn't it, but when you said she cries herself into a sweat it reminded me of some reviews I read on this one carseat. It was one of Graco's. I don't remember where you live and I don't know what kind of carseat you got, but basically all the reviews said the material on the carseat/stroller didn't breath at all and the babies got really hot/sweaty, so it was a real problem in areas that get hot. Maybe that's it? I can look up which one it was if think that might be it.

Curtis loved his carseat from the beginning but Dustin did not. He didn't really like it until he was more aware of what was going on around him. He does 110% better now that he's turned FF (yes I do FF, it's legal, so please don't bash me lol). He loves it know!

Cambria HATED her car seat and would freak out everytime!!!! She still hasn't grown out of it to much! It's a Britax for goodness sakes and she'll trust her body up and try and break free everytime! Ive come to the conclusion that she just doesn't like being restrained and there's not much I could do about it!

I bet this could be it. We have a Snug Ride. We always dress her lightly and as soon as she starts crying the windows go down to give her as much breeze as possible. This baby has yet to wear a jacket! We go into stores and other kids are in full snow suits and mine it in a long sleeve tee

This is what I'm afraid will happen.

Liam was like that too. He didn't start enjoying the stroller til he could sit up on his own around 6 months or so.

I don't know that this was the exact one I was looking at, but here is one of the ones that doesn't breath well:

Graco Quattro Tour Travel System Stroller - Nouvelle - Graco - Babies "R" Us

It isn't all of the Graco ones, I think it is just certain patterns/fabrics. I felt the different Graco fabrics they had at BRU and you could definitely tell a difference between them.
