This video was posted in the Oct 09 PR and I just wanted to share with you..
Grown Up Mean Girls: Mom Bullies - ABC News
I do agree bullying is bad online.. I tend to get targeted because I formula fed and I'm a working mom.. I'm sorry if I provide for my family (without assistance from the gov't)..Does that make me a bad mom? Because I formula fed, does it make my kids any different from a breast fed child? I love how some moms tell me, my children have a big chance of being over weight toddlers.. Umm.. Yea.. Both of my kids are in the 25th percentile for weight.. Why do people have to say things like this to another person?
Another member on JM got attacked because she had to force feed her infant who has RSV..You probably know her story.. I will say, unless your in that situation, you can't make a judgment.. My son had Broncholitis (same symptoms of RSV) at 4 months old.. Before he was hospitalized he would only eat 2-3 oz's a day! I went to the Peds every day until he was admitted to the hospital and I had to force fed him in the mean time. It was a vary helpless feeling. The problem was A.J had problems breathing, hence why he couldn't eat.. He didn't starting eating normally until 7 days after he was released from the hospital.. Thanks to the member (who got attacked), she gave me great advice to get A.J eating again..
Edit to add: The JM members who attacked the mom who forced fed her child, called CPS on her.. Of course, when they got her side of the story she was doing everything right.. When they heard RSV, they understood her situation.. She also gave the names of the 10 doctors (and specialists) who told her to force fed. You have to be careful what you say on here.. I still can't believe someone called CPS on her..

Wow!!! I'm so sorry that you get this kind of response!!! Who cares how you feed your baby as long as you feed your baby. I got attacked on the VBAC board because of my "ignorance" for not doing all I could to have a VBAC with Preston and believed my doctor when she said that I wasn't a candidate for a VBAC. I was also told I was "lazy" because I worked full time while my husband was unemployed and I didn't take the time to do any research on VBAC and that having the internet was no "excuse to be ignorant and just believe a doctor." I was basically told I'm an idiot for believeing my doctor...God forbid! It didn't seem to matter to these women that I NOW have the knowledge that I didn't have then....
Edward had bronciolitis too!!! It was awful! He wouldn't eat either and he was on oxygen for 3 months so I know where you're coming from there!

Wow Brandi.. I don't understand how other people can be so rude..
It's good to know that someone else had gone through broncholitis.. It's so heart breaking to see them suffer like that.. Did Edward have any more symptoms? They are saying A.J may have Asthma.. When he gets a cold, he starts getting crackles in his lungs..

I always thought Edward has asthma as a young toddler (1-3) but he's since out grown whatever I thought was asthma. I was told that it could develop and it runs on my DH side of the family. His biological mom and brother both have asthma. It's so hard! I remember Edward being hooked to all kinds of machines...I thought I would die!

That is very upsetting... People do have a choice about whether they follow a doctor's advice or not. However, I might think about calling CPS on a parent who didn't try to feed their child with adequate nutrition while that child was suffering an illness... there are always 2 or more ways to view a situation.
The internet provides people with what they think is a veil of anonymity or a coat of armor because it removes us from actual interaction... and then people act more powerful, judgmental and holier-than-thou than they ever would to another person's face.

Yeah, it's really sad. I chose to FF Taylor and I had lots of comments. I chose to BF Rylie and STILL got comments... apparently I can't win LoL. I get comments about staying home as well. "You must be bored" or "how do you stand being around kids 24hrs a day?". I try and shove all the comments aside and as I've matured as a mother I've learned I'm doing a pretty darn good job. Do my kids fall, get bumps and bruises, do I let them have some types of snack foods? You better believe it! My FF baby was actually mentally ahead of where my BF baby is now and neither of them are overweight. At the end of the day, I love my kids more than life itself and that's all that matters. Guess that's why I stick to myself IRL...

I think everyone gets attacked. I do in a way for having a c-section w/ Kieran(lots feel it was unnecessary and we should have risked her or me to turn her, or try a risky vaginal birth with her still footling) and for having an induction w/ Seamus. And for being on WIC and medicaid, I'm so sorry that dh works and makes decent money but we still can't afford his works insurance so we need to make sure our kids can go to the doctor, sorry for relying on the government we must be horrible people

boo on means girls....I hang out in the grads pretty much because nobody bully's here or belittles people for making different choices than they made. Everybody here seems to respect everybody else for being the best mom they can be regardless of exactly how they choose to feed/birth/etc.
if someone was mean to me online I'd hunt them down and beat their arse...cause I am big mean girl in person HE HE HE HE HE Just kidding

You can't win. It doesn't matter what you do. As long as you believe you are making the best decision you have the knowledge and experience to make then that's all anyone can ask of you.

That is really sad. We all have to make decisions that work for us and our families and I don't think that persons should be judged because they have a different approach. I have a nephew that did not breast feed and he's skinny and at the top of his class. I don't know why people have to be so awful.

I too am on the same boat as you. I get picked on a lot for formula feeding (Sorry that my milk made my child scream for the first 3 weeks of his life!), and being a working mom (Sorry for being educated and having student loans to pay back!) and having my child in day care even when I am home (It's full-time only. At 970 dollars a month he will be there every friggin day.). Not to mention the flack i get about being induced (i mean really, who cares that i had developed a heart condition and i didn't enjoy blackouts, dizziness, etc -- while home, alone.)
Every mom thinks that there way is the right way and that they are better then the next mom. Every mom who does not vaccinate thinks that every mom who vaccinates is uneducated and evil. Every mom of EBFs think FF moms are taking the easy way out and every FF mom thinks that moms of EBF have no lives... it can go on and on and on. Thats why I hate my PR. Its uber crunchy in there.
I love the grads. Everyone respects everyone

Ouch Sam! Not all crunchy mommas think you're 'bad' or 'wrong'! I could probably be labelled crunchy if all goes as planned with this baby but I did everything exactly the same as you with Gemma and while it wasn't ideal, I know why people do it and understand! I think you're an awesome mom for keeping up with everything like you do! I had to drop down to half time at school already and this baby isn't even here yet!

I think the people who do the bullying are uneducated and selfish.
everyone makes there own choices for their own reason. we shouldnt judge but support.
As my mamma said; treat others as you want to be treated.
Its easy to make assumptions, but not everything goes how we want it to go.

I guess I'd be considered crunchy....I don't know. I cloth diaper and I breastfeed Preston, but Edward was FF and I used sposies on him. I choose not to vaccinate because Preston had a seizure from vaccines...but Edward is completely 100% caught up on his vaccines. I'm still on the fence with that subject. And I'm a co-sleeping mama. BUT I have nothing against you or anyone else who chooses whatever THEY think is best for THEIR baby. You're his mama, you know what is best for him!!! I strongly believe that what is right for one isn't always right for another. I have very little friends because I got a lot of crap about being a bad mom because I did things differently than they did. I had nothing against their parenting choices but they constantly judged me for my parenting choices. So I chose to seperate myself from them. Only because they were criticizing me for something that wasn't any of their business. How other people choose to raise their child is their business....not mine. Sam, I think you're a wonderful mom! And it's obvious in your son because he is absolutely gorgeous!!!
