Matthew update - he took his first steps a few days ago and I think he took about 4 in a row yesterday. He says "mama", "dada", "nana", "done" and in the past I think he's said "ball" (bah) and "kiss" (tss) though he hasn't said those lately.
And now to the birthday! His actual birthday was kind of tough for me, as we'd had my dad's funeral just two days before. It was an okay day, we did a few things together, he had his first popsicle, it just wasn't how I thought it would be if that makes sense.
We postponed his bday party till today and I'm glad we did. It gave me time to get ready both for preparations and emotionally.
Pictures! His party theme was "Twinkle, twinkle, little star"
The invites that Justine made for me (everyone thought they were really cute).
The cake that my mom's friend made
Smash cake that I made
Plates
I had photos from newborn to 11 months and then a bigger 12 month picture in the middle that I had the party goers write notes to him on
Close up of some of the photos
The food (deli sandwiches, veggie tray, fruit, chips and star cookies that I made)
I cut out stars and hung them down over the food
Here you can see the happy birthday banner I made in the back (was hard to get a good picture of it). I got the idea for this on etsy and it came out reallly cute.

He slept through the first 45 minutes of his party, then got up and was clinging to me and Dh
Opening presents
He got tons more stuff too but I won't post pics of everything.
The best family pic we could get, hah.
Inspecting his balloons
Singing happy birthday
Cake for me?
Not so sure about the cake. He got overwhelmed by all the people and the icing on his hands.
Decides he'll try it...
