Poor Lila has this awful prickly heat rash all over her face. It's been so god awful hot here the past few days and with nursing it just gets worse. Anyone know how to help it/get rid of it. It doesn't seem to be bothering her because she's just as happy and smiley as ever but it looks like it would irritate her or something.
Also, we had her Christening on Saturday. We have a non denominational reverand who actually comes to the house to do it. Its the same woman we got to do Lochlann's christening, she's wonderful! The ceremony went wonderfully, I won't get into the other crap that went on right now. But the funny thing is when she went to leave Ian said, "We'll see you again!" I thought for sure he was so done with having kids even though I'm not. I was getting myself used to the idea of stopping now but turns out Ian's not completely done either. Looks like we'll go for one more, hopefully we'll be able to start TTC August of next year!

Oh my gosh! Poor baby! Jason used to get that all the time and he said it was the most ITCHY annoying thing ever, so I feel so bad for her! He said the only thing that relieved it was wet washclothes then lotion! He said he did that cycle over and over and over because it started to get so itchy if he didnt. I dont know if that'll work for her but I hope it goes away soon!

That's what I've been doing, so I'm glad to know I'm on the right track at least. I got this awesome Calendula lotion by California Baby that works great but as soon as I nurse her again the side of her face that's against my skin gets rashy all over again. I guess I'll just have to keep doing it.

This may sound silly - and we will probably have this issue - but could you put a cool washcloth between your boob and her face so you aren't touching skin to skin?
Now that Nolan is getting bigger, I kind of lay him in my lap and he basically nurses how he feels comfy....last night he was all goofy but it helped keep us both cool. I'm watching for heat rash myself because he seems to have gotten my sweaty genes.

I've had it before and it's awful, Kirsty had it for a long time last summer when she was just little like Lila and it never bothered her either!! Her torso was just one big, raised, red blotch. I felt so awful for her. All that helped was baby-friendly lotion (I used Aveeno if you can get some to try. I didn't use Baby Aveeno, just normal one and used it sparingly), and kept her clothing minimal to avoid her getting hot.
Do you have a bib or muslin (burp cloth) you can place between boob & her face? I have a feeling a wet washcloth may aggravate. You need something to absorb any moisture that may occur between you both.

Rylie got it really bad last summer, it's no fun We just tried to keep her as cool as possible, usually in her diaper, and around fans.
I'm so excited you're going to TTC #4! That's awesome

Poor Lila Hope it goes away soon!
Yay for TTC again!
I wanted to ask...how do you know that it is heat rash? What does it look like? Logan has a rash all over his face, and I spoke to a nurse about it last week and she said it sounded like baby acne, but it's been getting worse. I am taking him in to be checked out if it is not better by tomorrow, but now I'm wondering if it might be heat rash, because he is a little heater and he sweats alot.

She had a bit of baby acne when she was a few weeks old but it went away after about a week or so. It looks like red splotchy bumps all over her face, neck, ears, and head. I know its heat related because if I can cool her off with a cool washcloth and fans it gets much better. Its just a little hard keeping her cool when its 90 degrees and we don't have air conditioning.
Next time she nurses I'll put one of my old cloth diapers between us to see if it helps, thanks for that tip Fiona!

Hi, would you feel comfortable with posting a picture of it?
Why I'm asking, is that Amara started to have what I though was a rash around 5 weeks old and then it began getting worst and spreading from her face to her neck. After it started to get worst I took her to a pedatric dermatologist and she was diagnosed with mild sebhorreic (sp) eczema. She was given a steroid cream to heal and clear up the rash and then I was told to moisturise her skin daily from head to toe. He had prescribed cetaphil cream but that did not work for her so I ended up using either the Aveeno Baby Daily Moisture Lotion or E45 with 10% urea (this is twice the cost of the Aveeno so I only use this when I can't get the Aveeno.

I actually did try to get a picture of it yesterday but the boys wouldn't get out of the way so it never happened. Its cooler today and much less humid and she looks fine again so I'm really thinking its heat related. I get eczema and it didn't look like what I get. I do have that aveeno baby lotion, I'll give that a try too if/when it comes back, thanks!

I was going to ask to see a picture too, just out of curiosity. I don't know much about it so I don't have any advice. But heck yeah for TTC again!
