When I was pregnant with Preston, Chris wanted to get a 3D ultrasound done. I objected because I felt it took the element of surprise out of having the baby....as far as what the baby looks like. I didn't want to see what the baby looked like, I wanted to wait until he was born. Now, I'm kinda thinking that maybe I want it done. But I just don't know if it's really something I want....
Those who have had the 3D/4D ultrasound, was it worth seeing your baby's feature so early? Did it look anything like the baby did when he/she was finally born? I'm afraid of spoiling the surprise, but I guess finding out the gender is still spoiling the surprise!

I've never had one but I don't think they spoil anything. My sisters pics looked nothing like her kiddos its fun seeing their squishy faces though

We did one but it was to find out the gender early at 17 weeks so she hadn't fatten up at all yet. I enjoyed it, but lots of other people said she looked creepy. I didn't feel like I knew what she'd look like when she was born b/c so much changes.

Ditto. We had a gender ultrasound at 16 weeks and they did a bit in 4D as a 'special'. They do look MUCH different at this stage than they do when they were born. But I thought it was really cool to see the little person in there with full facial features and sucking his thumb, and this was well before I even had a bump. Personally I didn't think it was creepy. No one said that to me either. Maybe they thought it though...

I paid the money to get a 3D and, after two attempts, never got good pics! Baby has been head down facing my back for most of this pregnancy, so she couldn't get a good angle. It was a wasted $175. I won't do it next time.
I don't think it ruins anything, I'm sure seeing the baby in the flesh is a lot different!

I did with Lila at about 28 weeks. It was Ian and my Christmas present to each other. I did it because I was having a hard time bonding with her and I was feeling really awful and guilty because of that. And the u/s did help a lot. I also had an u/s at 36 weeks because she was breech (she had flipped at that point thanks to my chiro) and she turned it on to 3D for me which was really nice. I think she looks a lot like those pictures. Even at 28 weeks we could tell she looked so much like Lochy, and she definitely does!
We brought the boys with us to the 28 week one and it really helped them bond with her. They could see that there was a real baby in my tummy and they were attached to their baby sister long before she was even born. I think it really helped them with the transition to a baby being in the house because they were anticipating her and loving her before she was here. I'll do it again next time for that reason.

Do it Brandi!!! You will still be surprised and in awe of your LO when he/she is born.....and it is so cool to see them looking "more" like a human on the 3d ultrasound. I had many as the specialists office had 3d/4d capability and the techs would always go to that just for "**ts and giggles"....I loved seeing the 3d images...and getting some printed out for the scrap book. If anything it impresses older people who didn't even have ultrasounds back in the day!

My doctor gave me one every time I went in. I loved it! The last one I got at 37 weeks looks just like him!

I had one at 18 weeks to find out the gender and I wanted another one around 31ish weeks but wasnt able to do it. I recommend anyone to get one. At 18 weeks she looked like me but when she was born, she looked like Will.
I think if I were to get it at 31ish weeks that I wouldve known a little more who's features she has. But I think its definitely worth the experience.

I LOVED our 3D ultrasound, and it didn't take away from meeting Logan at all. As many family members as we could fit into the room came along, and it was so much fun to see Logan moving around and discover that he had daddy's ears and chin and my nose We went at 27 weeks, so he definitely looked more...I don't know the word, matured?...by the time he was born, but sure enough, he had the features that we saw in the ultrasound. I would definitely recommend it if you have the 'fun' money!
