So, I went to the doc today. Had my first internal. She said I am 1 cm dialated and 50% effaced! I know it doesn't mean anything, but it still makes me happy. Are the cervix checks supposed to hurt? It was quite uncomfortable. I'm just curious if it is normal or if she just wasn't gentle enough.

Did I mention DH is being a big sweetie? He is getting SO excited, he can barely sleep. He talks to baby every night. When he talks to her she starts wiggling around and he just gets all giddy! He keeps talking about how he can't wait to hold her. He's been taking care of everything around the house because he knows I'm tired. Not to mention he's rubbing my feet as I type.

Also, I have come to a conclusion. Being pregnant is like getting old. Your body aches, you are tired all the time, you lose control of bodily functions, you feel you need to eat prunes to poo, you lose your sex drive, your posture changes, you walk as slow as a sloth, all you talk about is the bodily ailment of the day... need I go on?

ETA: Did I mention I'm on the BIG BAD RED BOX??! (ticker)

Ah, I remember those days at the end of pregnancy...and I admit, I'm not looking forward to that again! But it's all worth it in the end!

And for the big bad red box!!! She'll be here soon!!! So excited for you Krista!!!

Cervical checks I think depend on the person, some people in my DDC said they wanted to leap off the table and some said it didn't bother them... it didn't bother me. In fact, during my birthing time I enjoyed them...

Thats great for progress so soon! Cervix checks and internals always hurt and bother me so I may not be the best to answer that.

Awww, you are getting so close. I know being preggo does get old and I had already delivered before the point where you are now, so I can't imagine going the whole 40 wks. I had internals all the time, and they never hurt (a tad uncomfy), but my doctor was super gentle and had teeny tiny hands. I had one at the hospital from a midwife and that hurt like the devil, and I had to where a pad because I bled so much after. I think its mostly technique.

Almost. The living room is donw and we (by we I mean DH ) are finishing up the trim in the dining room and foyer. We plastered the walls in the kitchen, but we aren't going to texture it or paint it until after the baby comes. We need a break! This weekend will be our first weekend we aren't working since late February, and we aren't doing ANYTHING until baby comes unless it has to do with getting ready for baby.

Apparently we really suck at home improvement projects because something has gone wrong every step of the way, but I won't get into that now, it's a long story!

Aw, your dh is soooo sweet!

Cervical checks never really bothered me. Lila's pregnancy was a bit different though because of my SPD everything really hurt the last few months and just got worse and worse as time went on. So because I was in pain 24/7 a little cervical check was like nothing! lol

BTW, I'm betting you have a May baby!

Awww how sweet of him My internal exams never hurt unless they're stripping the membranes. It's uncomfortable, like pressure, but no pain. I can't believe you're so close to having your baby, I'm so excited for you
