So I was going to try charting to TTA till we figure out if dh will get the big V or not(still not sure, but feeling more pressure from different areas in life that we shouldn't/arent' allowed to have any more). But I can't chart right. I can't temp because of Kieran. With her sleeping it won't work out right. She sleeps in our room since we have no where else to put her right now and she wakes usually at 5am to nurse but sometimes anywhere from 1-3am sometimes every 1-2hrs even. I tried temping at 5ish when she woke but like I said some nights I dont even get an hour of sleep before she wakes again(and I sleep too light to let her cry back to sleep). So I dont think any of my temps are accurate. I was taking them at 8/830 when we generally wake for the day but was told that the temps still wouldn't be right because I got out of bed at 5/530 to get her and sit to feed her(cannot lay down to nurse whatsoever!). Anyone have any ideas? I can't do cervix checks because honestly I feel weird doing and and I can't reach far enough (tmi sorry.)

i *think* i read on FF that you should just try to take it after you have had the longest stretch of sleep.

Ya thats the problem. Its different every day. Some days I sleep from 1am till 5am but if I dont' pick her up fast enough her cries wake Seamus up(hence the reason they dont' share a room, any whimper from her would instantly wake him up if they were in the same room. He has sleeping issues), and other nights I get 2hrs of sleep at a time. I think charting is out of the question for me which really sucks

take it every day even when you haven't gotten accurate sleep, just note it on your chart. Pick a time when you have most likely been asleep for the longest-preferably more than 3 hrs, but the closest you can get is understandable.

and please, please, please...don't get the big V done unless you guys are 100000% sure you do not want to have another child. I know too many people who were pressured into it too young and regretted it a few years down the road, and then were not able to have any more kids. I'd hate to see that happen to you guys

ya, don't jump to get the V when it's not FULLY your decision. I know you guys have alot of pressure from others but this is your decision not theirs!

I don't know anythin about temping but I would think so take it after the longest stretch and make note if there were any breaks in your sleep.

Do you have very obvious CF? I don't chart anymore because I'm lazy with the temps. But I get tons of CF at O time.

I had exactly the same problem when I started charting too Justine. Lochy was 13 months old and still nursed a lot during the night and sleep was different every night. I just took my temp when I was going to get up for the day. It may not have been exactly the same time every day but it was in the ball park and it didn't make my temps wonky enough to discount them--I could still see a definite thermal shift. I understand not wanting to check you cervix, its weird the first several times. Just make sure you really observe your cervical fluid--that was always more telling to me than my temps anyway. It just kinda sucks when you chart while still breastfeeding often. My ovulation was always pretty delayed and I had EWCM for weeks before I'd actually ovulate. It's definitely frustrating but it can be done!

I also agree, don't let dh get the big V until you both are 100% completely sure you are completely done having children. You don't know where you'll be and what your situation will be in the future and I'd hate to see you not be able to have more kids when deep down you really would like to. Don't let others dictate how you live your life, it's no ones decision but yours and your husbands whether you two have more kids.

Try BOM(Billings Ovulation Method), I LOVE it, no temping, no cervix checks! It's mostly checking your vulva then adding into chart which is so easy. I used it to TTA for a long time then used it to TTC and has worked wonderful. You can go the WOOMB site and check it out more.

Yea thats tough! Just try and do it at the same time everyday even if you havent gotten enough sleep. At least it'll be consistant in that its the same time everyday! I could not temp and by cm alone know when I was about to O and then when the O pains stop know I o'd (I get them every single month). I hope you can figure something out!!

There are 3 different kinds of charting that don't require temping at all. The Billings Method is one of them and I highly recommend it too. There's not always enough CM to see on toilet paper, but you can still feel it. Pay attention to what you feel as you walk around during the day - if you feel nothing, or wetness, or lubrication. That's the CM! If there's enough that you can feel it, there's enough to conceive - even if you don't see any on toilet paper. Billings is 99% reliable once you learn it properly. There are classes and an online course available.
