On CD .... I very much plan to go green and CD with next baby and possiably the next one if we decide to have another.

Well I want to have a go at making them if possiable ... have been watching up on youtube and this one is my favourite and very much seems easy enough for ME to do

YouTube - How to sew a fitted cloth diaper

I plan to make it out of fleece ... the soaker liner as you will see in the video she uses about 5 layers of her material ... would the fleece be ok to do that do you think or should I get a different material such as flannel ?? Which over here is like bath towel material ??? And then do 4/5 layers of that ???

And also with that type do you still need the inserts/liners to go in the nappy ??? I'm assuming yes to catch poop right ??? What material can I make those out of if I do need them ... the same fleece material or different ???

I'm confused as I want them to be super absorbant .. I worry about the pee seeping right through to the clothing layers !!!

What do you think ???

If the making of them doesn't go so well I was planning on buying these and making my inserts

Thanks you in advance for your help and anyone who chips in !!!

If you're going to make a fitted normally the soaker is sewn into the diaper, what I do when I make them is do a cotton outer(the pretty print sides lol) fleece inner since its pretty good and wicking moisture away, and then inside I sew in 4 or so layers of flannel(cotton works too) I think 4-5 layers of fleece is too much and will be too bulky(if your fleece is the same as ours).
In the video you can see where she has the soaker sewn into it(but its 'hidden' between the outer layer and the inner(touching baby layer) layer of the diaper).
With this kind since its not a pocket you wont need an insert since its got one, soaker, sewn in but liners could be used to keep clean up easier, i use disposable/flushable liners with Kieran.

Here's a really good pattern (free) for making diapers these are Fitted-Pocket ones. Fitted in the fact that they arent' water proof and require a cover and pocket because the soaker isn't sewn in. I tweeked the pattern and made them full on fitteds by sewing the soaker into it

Home of the Free RRP Diaper pattern!: Classic RRP (Rita's Rump Pocket) pattern.

The ones you listed from ebay seem pretty nice, just a warning though OS (One Size) usually don't fit babies till around 10lbs+
Looks like they both come with inserts which is nice.

Here a UK diaper that I saw in a blog post yesterday from a JM member

So you basically do the same .... the print patterns in a cotton material then a fleece inner layer and between the cotton and fleece layer sew in a soaker ??

Here we can get microfibre fleece which I think is a bit thinner.

Yep. microfiber can't touch baby's skin though it wicks moisture too much and can cause skin to dry out. Theirs microfleece which is nice (different though) and some diapers are made with it like FuzziBunz.

Check the post I made yesterday about the diaper lingo, I added another post today about the different types and explaining them better. I know I've told you a few times but the fitteds aren't water proof and are either closed with snappis, velcro, pins or snaps. They generally have a cotton outer(sometimes bamboo or fleece) and some kind of soaker inner some are sewn in some are snapped in and some are just layed in. And they require a cover to be water proof. W/ Kieran I dont use covers if we are at home (unless nap time) on her fitteds, cause generally they are the "cutesy" prints that people like to show off and not cover. Katie makes fitteds

No. Fleece helps them be alittle more waterproof but if you just used a fleece inner, cotton outer (and say flannel/Terry cloth for the inner soaker) and you put baby to bed for a few hours and had no cover you'd find a very soaked baby. To make them water proof they need something like a PUL (Polyurethane laminate -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyurethane_laminate) cover or a diaper made with it(Like pocket or AIO diapers like BumGenius, FuzziBunz, or covers like Thirsties and Bummis, etc..) I think there's more "green" ones out there but I had a bamboo AI2 that was supposedly waterproof and it was just as bad as putting her to bed in a fitted.

You can also use Wool covers, knitted or Upcycled(made out of old wool sweaters) it helps keep baby from getting everything wet. You can use fleece covers but imo it doesnt' work as well as PUL covers or wool, Kieran always still ends up a little damp on the outside if we just use a fleece cover(pull on fleece cover Katrina's Sew Quick Soaker Pattern: Free soaker pattern)

Edit- Those diapers that you posted in the first thread would be water proof because they have a PUL outer

Yep from what I read the Polyester+TPU is basically the same as PUL so they are water proof. But like I said most OS like that won't fit a baby till they're about 10lbs. I think most people use prefolds(old school diapers) and covers or fitteds and covers till a baby hits the 10lb-ish mark and/or the OS fit

cloth diapering a new born is (I hear) quite easy. They have loser poops but these can just go straight in the wash (If you EBF), even the meconium ones can (I think you may need to get off what you can with those though?). Its really no different then an older baby.

I tried making my own diapers and I found it really hard. Especially getting a good fit. There are other moms that are just good at it... I'm not one of them haha.

Ya since Kieran was EBF till basically 9mo(with a 2mo trial of jarred foods at 6.5mo, uber fail) I was able to just plop her diapers in the wash and was g2g

I've also heard that the meconimum(sp?) isn't hard to clean
