Ok so heres the story. On saturday, I bought J.J some new puffs -- Cherry flavored ones and Strawberry/Apple flavored ones. Sunday night, he was covered in hives/eczema like rash EVERYWHERE (back, legs, arms, chest) (after eating them at least twice). I figured -- he's allergic to the cherry puffs. (Im allergic to cherry and he has done fine with Strawberries and Apple food) Stopped the puffs immediately -- he still has it! Tried benedryl -- did not work. Tried TWO oatmeal baths, washing him with aveno, using aveno lotion - Nada. Still there.
Thursday night, we started the Axid for his reflux. It is currently the ONLY thing in his life that is new. No new detergents or other foods. Everything else is the same. Same toys, same blankets, same everything.
I wanted to ask you ladies if you thought maybe he could be having a reaction to the axid? I don't wanna call his ENT and sound like a moron unless you ladies think maybe its a possibility.

I don't think you would sound like a moron at all for bring this up to the ENT. The med and the puffs are the only new things, so it has to be one of those things.

I don't think you'd sound like a moron either. I'd call and see what his doctor has to say. Hope you can find out what's up and it clears up soon!

It could very well be a reaction to the new meds. Thats what happened to me when I became allergic to penicillin.
Liam is allergic to pumpkin, Lochy is allergic to strawberries and with both of them the hives were gone by the next day after stopping the food.
Also, when Liam was about 5 months old he got sick and the virus manifested itself in the form of hives and a low grade fever. We tried benadryl, aveeno baths, etc and it still took a good week for the hives to be gone.

So I called the ENT and spoke with a nurse.
She said it sounds like an allergic reaction :-(
So she said no more Axid until his DR calls me.
Maybe this is why he has not slept well since Friday Night.

Sounds like it could be. Are they going to try Prevacid instead? Poor J.J.

Shan, i'd imagine so.
*sigh* We can never catch a break with this kid. No wonder why DH does not want another for another 3 years lol. If it's not one thing, it's another. I really hope the next is nothing like this.

Oh dear I hope they clear up asap and you find something that works and doesn't irritate him. Poor guy and mommy and daddy!!

It could be either or anything he has touched (sorry to make it such a wide possibility of things"). Kirsty had gotten the same thing once when I visited my folks. She has only had this reaction once, and was covered head to toe in big red blotches. I took her to A&E as it was a Sunday and no where was open. The doc diagnosed it as what I thought... Urticaria (same as hives), and gave me liquid antihistamine for it. It took about 1 week to go away.
Will be interested to see if stopping his med helps this Poor lad

He has not been around anything outside or inside that would cause me to think it was an environmental allergy though. We've been to all the same places the last week. The only things different were the puffs and his axid. If this helps then yay! If not, then I have no idea.

Poor little guy!
I don't know anything about baby health conditions, so I'm no help. But I did want to tell you that I LOVE your new siggy (sorry if this is an inappropriate place to put this). JJ looks so cute!!! I swear he is more and more handsome each time I see pics of him.
