OMG! This baby is going to be born before I get any kind of ****** insurance!!!! I called Tuesday to check the status and they told me to call back Thursday morning! So I call back this morning and I was told it's in process and there was an issue with my documentation. I asked what the problem was. Apparently these igornamouses FAILED to READ my proof of pregnancy because they said there was NO DUE DATE on it!!! Ummm...yes there is! So then the lady I was speaking with told me that it wasn't signed by a health professional! WHAT? I went to Planned Parenthood and PAID $25 just to get this form so I could apply for this stupid insurance. Planned Parenthood told me that only a nurse or a doctor could verify the pregnancy (by a pee test!!!!!)! I had a nurse VERIFY my pregnancy and FILL out THE PAPER so I could copy it and send it to the stupid insurance. So then the lady accused me of FORGING the document! She had an accent and I didn't understand really what all she was saying, but she then went on to say that there was a problem with the birth certificates. They asked for copies of birth certificates to verify citizenship and social security cards to verify idenity. All the instructions said on the application was that they needed copies. So I made copies. She said that the copies weren't good enough? So I asked why, she (I think) told me that they needed to have a notry stamp on it. So I asked why that was not stated on the application itself if this is what was required. All she could tell me was that the rules changed!!! Ummmm the freaking rules have changes since May 10th when you RECEIVED my application!!!!???? So now I have to drive up there tomorrow to SHOW them that this is all REAL documentation and I have to POINT out my DUE DATE on the proof of pregnancy because these dumba$$es can't see it with their out freaking eyes!!!!!! I couldn't be transferred to a supervisor because she was on the phone (that's what one lady told me) or she wasn't there (which is what another lady told me)!!!! I asked to be transferred to someone without an accent because I can't understand what they're saying with their heavy accents and they told me I had to call back another DAY!!!! So I called back until I got someone I could understand!!! When I finally spoke to this last lady, I told her that the first lady accused me of forging my proof of pregnancy and she just said, "Well, I know this lady personally and she'd never say that, she's just reiterating what the file said!" Oh, so you mean to tell me that some idiot up there thinks I FORGED this paper???? Are you kidding me!!!!????

I don't know what the hell to do! The first lady asked if I could go to a doctor to get proof of pregnancy and I told her, no one will see me until you APPROVE me, that's why I call every single DAY! I told her I was high risk already and that the added stress of this mess wasn't good for my baby and she just said it wasn't her problem!

Editing for typos....

Wow.. What insurance company are you dealing with? I'd personally would go with someone else.. If they are giving you a hard time with this, what's going to happen with those thousand dollar bills come in? I wouldn't chance it!

You can also go to the hospital and ask to speak to social services.. They can help you.. Or go to the ER and get tested for being pregnant.. Then there's your proof of pregnancy..

I'm sorry your going through all of this..

I can't really go with someone else because this is a form of medicaid! And that's all I can afford! And I don't want to go to the ER for a test because every time I go to the ER and wait for them to bill me, they just send it right to collections....I went to the ER for an anxiety attack in October 09, I called a month later asking for the bill and they sent it to collections! So I don't want another hit on my credit! I'm trying to clean up the little bit of debt I have so we can buy a house. I don't want to keep adding to it. And the hospital I want to deliver at will NOT see me without insurance!

My goodness Brandi. Giving you a hard time about it is one thing, but accusing you of forgery?? Do they do that to every applicant who's application isn't filled out perfectly (no matter who's fault it is)? I'm sorry you are having such a hard time with them. What reason did they give you to think your documents are forged? If they didn't give you one I'd demand one.

They said it wasn't signed by a doctor. Which is true, BUT it was signed by a nurse! So I don't know what the heck their problem is! We went down this morning and I was there as SOON as they opened to get my papers down there to be "verified" and they totally took the proof of pregnancy that I had from Planned Parenthood! The lady at the desk did say that it needed to be signed by a health professional and that Planned Parenthood doesn't have doctors. And I said "No they don't, but I was informed BY Planned Parenthood that pregnancy had to be verified by a nurse and there was one on site when I went to verify my pregnancy and get this form specifically for this purpose." And the lady at the desk said that there shouldn't be any problem with it then! I don't know! I should hear back from them today before 4:30 or I'll have to call them before they close at 5!

Sorry, yes, I have an update!

We've been approved. But it still took some pulling!!! I was supposed to get a call back by 4:30p, since I wasn't counting on it, I called them. They said everything checked out except for my proof of pregnancy because it wasn't signed by a "medical professional", so I asked the lady on the phone, "do nurses no longer count as medical professionals?" and she said "Yes, they do." and I said "Well, that's interesting considering that my paperwork was signed by a nurse!" so the lady on the phone told me to call back in 15 mins. So I waited 15 mins and called back, this time, I spoke with a man who said that they HAD approved me! I thought it was ridiculous that I had to "insult" their (lack of) intellegence to actually get anywhere, but I got approved and so did the boys and that's all I care about!

Since most doctors offices close at 4p on Friday, I will be on the phone at 8 am on Monday morning to get myself into a doctor (hopefully a midwife since there are midwives at the hospital I'm hoping to deliver at) and get baby checked out! It definitely feels weird that the weight has been lifted, but I'll take it!

Oh Resi, I'm hoping they'll be able to tell me at the first appointment! I'm feeling like it's another boy. But Chris and Edward BOTH swear it's a girl, Edward just thinks there's a boy in there too! We'll see!

I switched to medicaid when I was pregnant with Kylie and it was the biggest PITA! It took me 4 months to get approved! Everytime I sent in one thing, they would say they needed another, or that they needed more of something. I swear, I felt like it was like they were trying to deter me or something. You are lucky you got approved when you did and early in your pregnancy. I started switching in june 2009 and was not approved until october 2009!!

I'm glad you finally got approved! I bet you can't wait to get in. I hope you don't have any problems getting in with a doctor/midwife. I was on my way out of my doctor's office one time and someone called in trying to make an appointment and they refused her because she was too far along, like 4 or 5 months. I thought it was kind of silly... what if she had PCOS and didn't know she was pregnant until then, you know?

Anyway, good luck with everything, I can't wait to find out what you are having!
