I think it's just a salmonella issue. I actually still eat sandwhich meat, even not warmed up... but I know lots of people choose not to.. so heating it up kills any chance of it.
Why not just make your own?? Then you know all the ingredients are fresh??
I've actually never had it though

i would still eat it! i plan to still eat sushi and stuff too though, i feel like a lot of the 'bad foods' are silly. maybe the reason they say avoid it is salmonella though, like steph said. i just ate a roasted garlic bean dip yesterday......

Ditto that! If you are confident about where your food comes from, I say go for it. The pre-packaged stuff is meant to be safer than the deli stuff because it is always at a controlled temp.

I always ate hummus. Heck, I'd never even heard it was a no-no food. Thought it was just lunchmeat and fresh cheeses (heck, I ate those too haha)

Sweet, I think I'll eat it! I brought myself a new food processor yesterday so I might even try to make some myself!

I ate it while pregnant several times. I never head of it being a no-no food for pregnancy. I also ate lunch meat (organic and nitrate free of course)

I ate it when I was pregnant, didn't know I couldn't! I did limit high fructose corn syrup and anything with high mercury levels, and bleu cheese, but that's it.

I haven't heard of that one either. The list of can'ts gets a little ridiculous in my opinion.

Thats weird I have no clue why. I would not worry too much I drank a small cup of coffee daily and ate lunch meat while pregnant and Landen was a big healthy baby! I did wait until my second tri to do eat that stuff though.

Yeah, to be honest, I haven't been that careful! I've been going off a list my doctor gave me, but most of the time I eat something then think 'oh bugger' coz it was on the 'don't eat' list!!

I've never gotten a don't eat list or talk from my doctors.... so I really don't think any of it is a big deal. I don't however drink caffinated beverages lots... just occasionally.
