POUTING!! haha. Everyone in my family always says what a great kid I was - except for on my birthdays, and then I was always a brat. This year proves to be no exception.

Ben decided to willingly pick up overtime at his day job for like the first time ever... so he's working 13 hours tomorrow. I am disappointed b/c he has enough vacation time he needs to use that I kinda figured he'd take off, not work extra. So I'm not doing anything. He'll be gone before Bug & I wake up, and won't be home until a little bit after midnight... so I won't even see him. I guess we're going to do cake at my mom's on Sunday. My cake better be fantastic.

To make me extra-bratty... I have been saying for the last FOREVAH that I want to go to the waterpark. All last spring I was INSISTING that I go - but then I found out I was pregnant and couldn't. So during like my whole pregnancy I was saying I wanted to go, and we should go for my birthday, blah blah blah. Well my cousin just posted on her FB that she got 2 free tix to the waterpark and is going tomorrow. And I cried. I mean, realistically I don't know how I could go b/c Bug can't go and even if my mom watched her my boobs would explode... so its just not realistic... but I'm still totally jealous and kinda mad about it even though its petty and stupid.

So yeah, I'm just being a big baby, like I always was on my birthday as a kid. I guess its just that to me birthdays are a big deal, and I do parties and personal thought-out gifts for other people so I'm really disappointed when people don't do something for mine.

(also, I feel like a bgitch for complaining about Ben working all day b/c his working means I don't have to and that's a gift I get all year long... but he has a ton of vacation time he HAS to use and he chose to work extra time... and it just kind of hurt my feelings. I would just never do something like that, and we've been together for seven years so he knows how I am about birthdays. Then I get these big ideas in my head like we're doing something awesome and he's just saying he's working to throw me off... like maybe the whole family is going to the waterpark so people can take turns holding the baby and going on rides and people are just messing with me... but that's not the case b/c no one would put that much thought into it, and then I'll just be more disapointed tomorrow when I wake up and am alone all day.)

[/rant] do you regret asking?

Awe Shannon!! All that sounds super bumming. I would be very mad if James worked that much on my birthday when he didn't really HAVE to... I think all your reasons are super justified.

I hope that something good happens for you!!

Oh Shannon I get the whole no one treats birthdays as special as you do! Ed and I have been together almost 8 yrs and he's FINALLY getting the hints and pleas to make an extra effort. I cried on almost every birthday for one reason or another. Fortunately, last yr was much better. I'm alittle nervous for it again next month

Happy Birthday!!

Aw, I'm sorry Shannon! I really do hope your birthday is much better than you're expecting. If its any consolation my birthday is on Sunday and it'll be just like any other day. We never do anything for our birthdays anymore, its kinda sad.

I personally don't think you're being a big baby!!! Birthday are a BIG DEAL, without you're birthday, you wouldn't be here.....so to speak. And come on, it was the day an incredibly awesome person came into the world and made it better for those who know her (IRL and cyber-wise!)!!! So boo on them! If I lived closer, I would throw you a HUGE party! And I know everyone else here would too!!

Happy Birthday Hun and I hope your cake is out of this world good!

Happy birthday!

Your exploding boobs comment made me laugh, that's how I feel lately.

I'm sorry it isn't going exactly as expected. If it makes you feel any better, my DH forgot my birthday last year! It was a month after we got married. I made a bet with coworkers on whether or not he forgot or if he was planning something big like you mentioned you were hoping Ben might be doing because he hadn't mentioned anything about my birthday in the few weeks prior. I told them if I know my completely tactless husband, he completely forgot. Everyone else bet he was doing something big. Guess who won, sadly? And it was my 25th, which is kinda big right??! And my dad and brother forgot too. My dad has never forgotten my birthday! Oh well.

Anyway, I'm sure that didn't make you feel any better. Hopefully you'll get the best cake of your life!

aw Krista! Did you have a fit? I totally would have!

Last night Ben said something about my birthday and I told him I was feeling down b/c I wouldn't see him all day, and I was kind of hurt that he chose to work extra hours, and how my cousin is going to the waterpark and I'm jealous, etc. Then he felt pretty bad about it, and I felt kind of bad for telling him.

So then when I got up and heard him in the house this morning I was pretty surprised! He went in, worked an hour of overtime, they told him he could go and come in an hour later than his normal scheduled time... so he came home, gave me some gifts and took me out to lunch!!! Then my mom called and asked if I'd like to go to dinner! So today doesn't suck, afterall.

Thank you for all of the birthday wishes - they make me feel loved! You girls are the best!

Awe! Poor Shannon... You should work out how much money he is making today with all that over time, then go out and buy yourself a present for that same amount!!

My birthday in April this year was a bit of a bummer too... Stupid DF got really drunk the night before at his bosses 50th birthday party, so was too hung over to do anything with me. We even had to cancel dinner coz he was too sick to go.

Stupid, stupid men.
