How to prep new cloth diapers?

Can someone remind me how to prep new cloth diapers? How many times do I need to wash them? 6-8 times? Do I wash each time with detergent, then dry, and repeat? Or can I wash several times and dry at the end? I don't remember how it all works and I have a lot of fluffy mail coming my way!

Also, can I wash them with my other clothes to get them prepped? That could save me some time. I currently use rockin green on everything so deteregent isn't an issue with mixing it all up.

I wash the inserts or whatever absorbent part 3 times and dry 3 times before use. if its a pocket or a cover I just do it once. now that I'm doing CD laundry, I just wait and throw it in with my dirties to prep. I keep in mind that it doesn't reach full absorbency until 6-8 washes so I wouldn't use it for overnight or a long trip out.

What are you prepping? That makes a difference in how you do it.

Ahhh that is SO adorable!!!!! I have a diaper in that pattern - it is so neat but it is a medium/large and he is going to outgrow the rise before I know it.

The organics will have to be washed a ton. I used my BG Organics after just washing them 3 times (I washed them with towels and regular laundry) and they didn't leak after that. The organic flip has to be washed a bunch too before they reach "maximum absorbency".

I hate prepping the organic cotton stuff, it takes *forever*....but I love how absorbent they are. I am trying an organic flip insert in a BGOS pocket tonight and hoping that it is the answer to what we need.

I did the same as Helen. One wash on a 60C then dried in the dryer for 30-40mins. I have AIOs like Helen too.

Did you get any brights for the BGs? I have heard they can bleed. With my Flips I hand rinsed them in the sink until the water ran clear (which I think it just always was? Haha). Then I washed the inserts (organic) like 3 or so times (I got bored). I would wash them a bunch and just note that they wont be at max absorbancy yet. I mean they will hold some pees and stuff so I wouldn't bother washing a clean diaper tons.
